I noticed that smilies online tend to be really cheesy and just be crappy.

Then I saw this, and hands down, those have got to be the best smiley faces I've seen in a long time. However, if you were to just shrink those down to a size that meshes well with most online text (16x16), they'd look like a muddy mess of blurry doo-doo.

So I tried to figure out why those smilies look so good, and if there were *any* way where you could get the same level of quirky expression at 16x16.

I decided to use the Acmlmboard smilies as reference, because the smilies here beat the pants off of most smilies around the 'net, and this is a proof of concept I've come up with so far:



Wink is backwards, I know, but that's a simple fix.

What do you think? Should I continue with the full AB set?

as long as you do not do this, then yeah, you should continue. I like where you're going with these smilies, and I think I might be inspired to try a few new ones of my own.
the eyes in your face look a bit rough, especially the smaller eye. not sure how to easily fix that on such a small scale though. but keep it up, I want to see more.
