Just a side project that I wanted to do. Once I got to the end, I decided to make this a little series. It will tie in somewhat with the HSH.
Nothing fancy, but have a read and tell me what you think.
Currently it is September 1st, the year, on the other hand, is unknown. You see, it’s suppose to be 1996 but the location of their high school is out of space and time, so trying to figure out the real date is a bit of a challenge and up for debate. Since Anya and Kyle both arrived at Candoridge High School, they’ve both learned that the students there are from different points in time, with the majority from the year 2009.
With that aside, today is a day of relaxation, mostly forced on by Anya. The day started out as a normal school day but shortly after school was in session, Anya decides to take a little trip to the beach.
Since day one of their meeting, Kyle has been obligated to follow Anya, no matter where she goes. This is a slight annoyance for Anya.
Their location is still unknown, but a beach is the same no matter where you are, right?
Anya and Kyle both reappear from the teleport.
Anya stretches her arms and reaches up to the sky, where she freezes in place.
Kyle notices this and says, “What’s wrong?”
Anya’s expression is that of confusion as she continues to look up into the blue sky.
Kyle looks up and laughs, “Well, you don’t see that everyday.”
The sky is blue, yes, but the atmosphere must be lower than of Earth’s since they're able to see stars in the sky. That’s not all. There’s debris in the sky as well. From cars, kitchen sinks, books, you name it, it’s up there, just, there. Not floating. Not flying. Just up there, in what seems like suspended animation.
Anya shakes her head, “Sure. Whatever,” she starts to walk towards the boardwalk. “Since I really didn’t plan this, I need to get a swim suit.”
“Why not just pull one out of the void?”
“Right, right, I keep forgetting that I can pull almost anything out of that thing.” Anya looks around and spots a personal changing room. “I’ll meet you down by the water,” she says and then adds more to herself, “it had better not be cold”.
Kyle “Dryden” Roberts was a bit unsure about skipping out on school like this. Especially since class had just started. Kyle wasn’t worried about his education since he knows more than he lets on. It was Anya that he was worried about. She missed two years of school due to past events and with what may happen down the road, she needs as much education and social interaction that she can get before everything hits the fan.
Anya, who is currently seventeen in this life cycle and point in time, steps out of the changing room, which looks like a cramped phone booth, and heads towards the beach.
She is wearing a two piece bathing suit, which is orange and light blue, with small swirls that look like fire printed on it. She tosses a blue towel over Kyle’s head as she nears the water.
“So are you going to be going into the water with me?” Then Anya ads sarcastically, “Never know when a monster may attack while I’m in here.”
Kyle pulls the towel off of his head, allowing him to see Anya putting her feet into the water. Seconds later, it’s removed.
“Son of a--it’s cold. How the hell can it be cold? The weather is warm out.” She turns and places her hands on her hips.
Kyle still says nothing and looks straight ahead at Anya.
“Hey, you think I could warm it up?” She turns back to the water. “It’s a long shot, but hey, worth a try, right?” A pause. “Right?”
Anya turns around to see that Kyle hasn’t moved from his spot. Of course being completely oblivious, Anya sighs and throws a fire ball at Kyle’s head.
Kyle shakes his head, “Hey, what was that for?”
“You okay?”
“Huh, yea, why wouldn’t I be?” he stammers out.
“So you think I should try it?”
“Try what?”
“…”
“What? Did I miss something?”
“Urg, never mind.”
Anya turns back to the ocean and takes a step, shivering as she does this and missing out on Kyle’s blushed face.
“Hey listen,” Kyle calls out, throwing the towel unto the sand. “We might as well head back to school. Seems like a waste if the water isn’t that warm.”
“No one is stopping you from heading back, you know,” Anya says, putting her other foot into the water. Goose bumps begin to appear on her tan skin. “Heh, might as well, right?” This was more to herself than to Kyle. Anya decides to dive into the water, which turns out to be much deeper than one would think. Inches from the shore line, the water is a good fifteen feet deep.
“She’s going to freeze,” Kyle says aloud, grabbing the towel and making his way to the water. He waits for Anya to resurface.
Several seconds pass and there is no sign of Anya. Kyle begins to worry about thirty seconds in. Good at swimming or not, Kyle knows that Anya isn’t the one to enjoy anything cold.
Kyle decides to throw off his shirt and dives into the water after Anya.
Several feet below he spots a cave. Kyle swims towards it, hoping that maybe Anya swam in this direction.
His head pops out from under the water and he takes a deep breath in. He scans the cave to see a few items here and there: a computer desk with a computer and some equipment next to it, as well as a bed, a table, a small refrigerator, and a few other items that are covered with a white sheet. He spots Anya and steps onto the rocky ground.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Kyle yells out, his voice echoing off of the walls.
“I found a cave, wanted to check it out. Sorry that I didn’t ask for your permissions, sir,” Anya rolls her eyes and walks over to the computer. Her bare feet slapping against the ground. “I wonder who lives here, and why?
“I’m serious, you need to be more careful,” Kyle says, his voice lower.
“Yea, yea, I get it,” Anya answers, in hopes to shut Kyle up.
Anya presses a random button on the keyboard and the monitor comes to life. Anya looks at the screen for a few minutes while Kyle walks over.
“I don’t think we should be here. If this is someone’s home---”
“It’s a blueprint of the school,” Anya cuts him off.
“What? You mean the high school?”
“Yea, it’s the entire place. And look,” she points at a list on the screen. It is a list of several students who attend the high school. “This can’t be good, right? Think we should leave now?”
Anya sits in the chair and begins looking around the computer. Still unfamiliar with a computer, Anya isn’t having any luck finding any new information. “Okay, we need someone who’s good at computers….what about Zar-Q? Think we should contact him?
Zar-Q used to work for the Universal Portal Corporation on the planet Zerron. This company is run by Ozma Vid and Doctor Russell Anzak, who are two people that are not allies of Anya and Kyle. In fact, Ozma is the one who took Anya and made a clone of her and conducted a series of torture techniques in order to jog Anya’s memories. After those events, Zar-Q managed to flee with Anya and Kyle and has since been on his own.
“Excuse me?!”
A voice is heard behind the two. A very familiar voice.
Anya and Kyle both turn around to see Victoria.
Victoria is the clone of Anya, created by Ozma. She has the appearance of Anya at the age of fourteen. Since their last encounter, Victoria has cut her hair and tried to make herself look less like Anya. Since it’s been three years, Anya has grown taller and now has longer brown hair than before.
“You?!” Victoria yells out. “What the hell do you think you are doing here?”
“Okay, calm down, we found this place by accident, but why are you here and why do you have information about my high school?” Anya asks.
Right before separating, Anya tried desperately to get Victoria to join herself and Kyle at the castle. Victoria has always been against this, and has sworn to get back at Anya and Ozma. Victoria feels that she is a mistake and wants no connection with Anya.
“And here’s the part where I tell you my plans, right?”
“Ummm, yes?”
Victoria rolls her eyes. “And this is also the part where I let you guys leave, right?”
“Listen, we don’t want to fight. Just come back with us and we can figure all of this out,” Anya once again tries to reason with Victoria.
Victoria’s hands begin to shine a light purple. Anya stands from her chair, but Kyle steps in front of her.
Victoria walks over to the fridge and picks up a glass bottle. Victoria is able to charge objects with energy, causing the object to turn into a bomb. She smirks as she charges the glass.
“V, knock it off, I don’t understand why you’re against us. We’re the good guys,” Anya says.
With her back to Anya and Kyle, “So you found this place by accident?”
“Yes.”
“This cave, that’s under the water in a large ocean and you were able to find it by accident?”
“…yes.”
“Somehow I doubt that,” Victoria then throws the object towards the two.
Kyle tries to counter by using an electrical bolt to exploded the object before reaching them. The shock instead brings him to his knees. With the confrontation, Kyle forgot that he was still wet from ocean. Luckily, the bolt was able to destroy the object before reaching Anya, but during this quick delay, Victoria was already heading towards Anya. Before Anya could get out of the way, Victoria had her hand around Anya’s neck and pressed up against the cave wall.
“This is just too easy,” Victoria mocks. Her back is now facing Kyle, who has already gotten up. Without being able to use his electricity, Kyle is able to switch to his energy powers, but doesn’t want to risk hitting Anya. He slowly walks towards Victoria.
“Stay back,” Anya yells out, which surprises Kyle.
“Pointless,” Victoria says, her hands lighting up once again.
“What are you planning?” Anya’s neck begins to glow now.
“I don’t think you’re the one in the position to be asking the questions.”
Kyle takes another step forward, ignoring Anya's request, but still taking his time to see where this might lead to.
“Listen, I don’t know why you’re against me, and if that’s how it’s going to be, then fine. But if you’re not going to tell us, we’ll just have to figure it out on our own and end up stopping you. And if you come back again with some bullshit scheme, we will stop you again. And if you want to join us, then fine. But for now, I’m not going to be pushed around by some little brat with issues.”
This of course angers Victoria and she grips Anya’s neck even tighter, making it harder for Anya to breath.
All the while, Anya’s finger on her right hand has been pointed at Victoria. Since she is still new to her own powers, each spell that she casts must be said, save for a basic fire ball spell. With the air leaving Anya’s lungs, she manages to get out, “Fire Snipe”. There is an instant blast of fire that escapes her fingers, sending Victoria towards the other end of the the cave, slamming her into the wall and causing her to pass out.
Anya drops to her knees as she tries to get in some air. Kyle rushes over to her, “Are you okay?”
“Yea,” she gets out, before being helped to her feet. “We need that computer.”
“We can’t just carry it out, the water will…oh, you mean the Void?”
With her head now pounding and her vision a bit off, Anya begins to unplug the tower. “It’s worth a shot, right? Maybe Miles can help us out with it.”
Anya picks up the tower, which is a bit heavier than she thought it would be. Taking a deep breath she then tosses it over her head and towards her back. This took a lot of Anya’s already depleted energy but at least it worked. The tower vanishes into the Void.
“Lets go,” Anya says, walking with a wobble.
“We need to teleport. You can’t swim back up to shore like this. And we’re just going to leave her here?”
“Yes we are,” Anya reaches back and grabs a bottle. She throws it to the ground and a light blue portal appears. Anya rubs her neck, which is now throbbing in pain.
“.....but we need to get you to some aide,” Kyle says, who doesn't agree with Anya leaving Victoria alone, but will respect her wishes.
“Heh, yea, and I think what we need is a healer.”
The two enter the portal and exit the cave, as Victoria wakes up, dazed and confused.
