This weekend I've decided to finish up a project I started last weekend. Namely, ripping all DVDs I own to disc images and encoding individual episodes/movies into h.264.
It's a pretty tedious project, given my DVD drive is a tad on the poky side (2MB/s reads), and there's instability ahead to make matters worse.
SO, one hour to rip a disc to an image, followed by a long encoding process that uses the two-pass option in Handbrake. :specialed: ____________________ JOIN #PROG YOU JERKS.

Yeah, I use the batch mode in Handbrake.  Though I rip the discs first then just use the images locally. It's much faster. ____________________ JOIN #PROG YOU JERKS.

Well, technically speaking this doesn't require a lot of effort... just a lot of time on your hands. 
If you have two PC's, it's not so much of a hassle. :\ That's why I usually have things run while I'm out/doing something else.
