Who remembers back when [quote] didn't exist?

I still remember the old code (spaces added for readability):

<blockquote>

<font class=fonts><i>Originally posted by ME ME ME ME ME</i></font>
<hr>
hay guize
<hr>
</blockquote>

$msg=preg_replace("'\[ quote=(.*?)\]'si",

'<blockquote><font class=fonts><i>Originally posted by \1</i></font><hr>',
$msg)

...and I got it.

So much old shit from back then.

I remember abusing my Geocities account by renaming images to .txt files, then the likes of Imageshack came along and suddenly nobody spoke of that technique ever again

Web 1.0 why did you leave meeeee

Ha, I remember those days. I also remember the lack of spoiler tags. It was a pain in the ass when someone would post a spoiler without marking it as such...

Like...

SPOILER BELOW

I hate you all

End Spoiler.

Haha, those were the days.

I love how they just gave up after everybody figured it out. I still see images with .txt extensions every now and then!

Remember when we were all on 800x600 and on 56k? Tying up the second phone line so I can browse the internets...

Yeah, that wasn't really great.

I hate those extension tricks. Every once in a while over on SMWC we get roms with trick extensions in our File Bin, meaning that we have to check files constantly. Just make a goddamned .ips file idiots!

We had Prodigy way back then, so I imagine at some point we were using something like that, but I wasn't a sentient internet-based being at the time.

If you want class, most of my image stashing was done on Pagerealm, which is probably now defunct given its quality.

I believe I was introduced to it through none other than beloved Acmlm's Board poet laureate GAMEBOY 64 (remember that guy?)

I remember having an AOL trial back when I was 14 or 15 and having to download an update after installing.

On a 2400 baud modem.

Oh the pain.

2400 baud? Yikes, I've tried using AOL on that kind of connection and it took several minutes just to load the AOL start page.

I think 28k is the worst I've ever used for actually browsing the internet for more than 5 minutes at a time.
