I'm forced to wonder when the hell #x started hitting 50 people.

I know a few of them are bots, but still, the last I remember it was like 30-35.

There's a number of clones in the channel though. I think you have about 6 instances of yourself Xk, and then I have me and Viarra, Acmlm and Millybot, Eppy's two forms, and then I guess the rest are us and a few spilt-over from #smwc who are curious to see what the mysteriously named channel #x has in it.

Maybe I should actually start joining the IRC again, it might keep me around for more than a few days at a time...

Though at the moment that wouldn't work because I'll be away for two weeks starting Saturday, but I'll start hanging around there again anyway, though I'm generally a reactionary anyway so I dunno how much that'll help activity.

That's a valid reason to be in there, though.

I go as often as possible but... you know... I come home late at night and I like to do other things when I get home as well. (Played Boom Blox for half an hour before doing the JCS, for example.)

That's why you need to keep it open and just idle. You can set it up (if you're using mIRC) to have it ding if someone says "HEY ANYA" or something like that.

Idling in the channel is a fine way to wait for activity. Just open mIRC or something and minimize, check in every once in a while. And yeah, highlights work great for notifications (though i don't use sounds myself...)
