Then if we do that, we have to make sure the main path is completable by any character and have varying ones only certain characters can access. Hmm, I wonder how many paths we should make for stages like that...probably a main one and two alternates for replay value. And the alternates should have something at the end of them, like credits or an energy tank.

Normal route to be accessible by all and should be easily cleared (not counting the enemies obviously IN the way).

...but possibly a way to boost any character in any stage in particular for the secrets...possibly needing a teamwork effort to get to certain areas. You know how if you did so much with X in X2 and X3 that if you went to a certain hidden spot in the end-game you'd get one hell of an upgrade? Maybe something like that.

If nothing else, I know a good one for Rain...

Never played the X series but I understand what you're getting at. Hidden super-upgrades for the characters would be great bonuses.

Yea...so I have an idea what I could do there at least.

But in terms of story that's still a bit up in the air...I dunno what the real motive of the antagonists are.

For Teyla.... Meizuki got out in the intro (Teyla was mass murdering robots, possibly if you want FP, her and Viarra start in the same place.) and proceeds to globetrot looking for Meizuki. She fights (Soap possibly?), Addy, and Yuuko. Yuuko was a misunderstanding, Addy was... being crazy. (Soap sounds good still, yeah.) is ticked off because Tyty is ignoring her (By this point, she knows about the whole deal with the gender change magic, I am planning on having her as a regular RP character) and kung-fu fight commence.

Turns out, Meizuki just did that to test Teyla to see if she was ready to go beat up the Big Bad, followed by meetup with everyone.

So you're saying the Meizuki manipulates three bosses and herself and takes advantage of the 'robot crisis' for her own selfish gains?

She's a border youkai, they're zany like that.

Now I just need to type up something massive, and doodle up Soap and Addy... and Meizuki sometime.

I only planned what Addy and Meizuki's heads looked like on actual paper. :x

Viarra and Teyla starting together would be a good way to intro the reasoning for Viarra to be fighting the robots, and then when Teyla goes off on her own, Viarra is left to finish up the robots by herself.

That would mean I need to come up with four robot dudes to fight against and figure out what skills they would impart to her. I'll have some thinking to do...

Didn't we discuss this before?
As far as anybody can tell, Stein simply wants immortality, and he's using an army of robots to get what he needs to accomplish this. Of course, this isn't revealed at the start, so anybody who isn't paying very close attention would probably think that he's trying to either conquer or destroy the world.

Yea, we did, but not much further than that. I mean that's an okay start with a main idea but that doesn't give me a lot of plot to build on.

The general idea of that plot is that it should be basic enough to easily adapt to whatever ideas those in charge of the main characters have in mind, as it is about them. After all those are implemented, then I can build the details around that.

Of course, if everybody doesn't like that, then I could get to work on something a more detailed, but binding.

Been a while since a status update on the codebase, hasn't it?

I've got dshlib in and working (mostly), and I'm working on the level loading functions right now. There's still a hell of a lot to do, but it's definitely coming along.

Well, I get adapting...that's all well and good, but if I don't have something to build off of, there's less to adapt to.

I've got a rough idea of how all of them will work and the end-game baddies don't really have to make much if any of an appearance until the merge point anyways...but after that point is where I'm a little lost.

In that case, I suppose I think up some details for that point in the game. I'll make sure they are at least somewhat adaptable, of course, so don't expect anything too specific.

Spent a little while and drew up an abilities list for Viarra. Here's what I have:

 
Viarra Bellamier


Attacks:

-Triple shot attack, 2 attacks on screen at once

-Charged triple shot (with upgrade)

-Flare Burst: Burst of fiery energy, destroys nearby enemies. (with upgrade)


Abilities:

-Fast movement

-Long jump clearance

-Walljump (3 jumps)

-Wallslide (cling to wall on way down to slow fall/ready self for walljump)

-Grab ledges

-Use ceiling monkeybars

-Break Dash Blocks (with upgrade)

-Fire Shield (with upgrade)


Upgrades:

-Dash Charge (10%/use)

-Fire Barrier (5%/sec)

-Charge Shot

-Flare Burst (50%/use)


Pros:

-Movement speed

-Easy stage traversal

-Fast-paced levels


Cons:

-Lower defense, relies on agility to avoid attacks

-Few attack methods

-Unable to attack when grabbing ledge or wallsliding.

I can see her level design being very focused on movement and athleticism, taking advantage of the fact she's very agile and fast.
