Success! Automatic resampling is now in the smart loader.

I also put in a more descriptive error system for easier debugging (although the returned errors are not yet very descriptive, but the foundation is there), and finished up .zip support.

Awesome.

I've finally got Visual Studio 2008 installed and the SVN downloaded (yay, no garbage files!) onto my system, so I suppose at some point I should be able to get back to working on this, if I can tear myself away from GMod for a long enough while.

Alright. In my little scheme for HSH I've managed to come up with a 4th boss for Teyla. I'll write something up like Hiryuu did later.

Well...I guess I should apologize, I haven't check this thread for months, not realizing that I was supposed to be a full part of it.

So I've got to come up with 4 bosses for Viarra and attacks for her. Well, I know that Pyrie can be one boss against her, but as for the rest, I have no other characters from Viarra's universe, nor do I have any from any other story I've created. This will be hard for me...

As for Viarra's attacks, I was thinking of having her with a 3-shot fireball attack, with no charge. Basically, a spread attack like Spazer, but only allowing for 1 attack onscreen at once (Maybe 2 would be better). Good for hitting enemies over a wide range. I was also thinking of having her with the native ability to move faster than the others, allowing for longer jump clearance over pits.

I'll try to get some work done with this and get back to you all later.

I was thinking of Pyrie being a boss so that when you defeat her she will assist you in making your fire attacks more powerful. It's in her simcharacter bio that when she helps Viarra, Viarra's attacks get more powerful so I thought I could incorporate that. Her reasoining for the fight would be to test her strength before the meetup occurs.

As an aside, what graphics format do you think we'll use? I'm just trying to figure out that if I want to do any graphics, should I draw them in a program like YY-CHR with .bin files or GraphicsGale with .bmp?

You're right. My problem just comes from not having any clue what bosses to create. I've got nothing and I thought Pyrie as one would solve 1 of the 4 slots.

	I might suggest you run with a theme...makes it a lot easier. If there's something you can pull from a back story and not just random character that you've created, it'll make the flow a lot better. The fact Rain has exactly four spirits (right now, anyways) to deal with make my job that much simpler to give four bosses but I also have a reason why she would have to get all of them back, too. Thoughts are, intro stage she'd have them all but... ... ... ____________________

But the problem is Viarra doesn't HAVE a backstory like you do with all you guys' characters. She wasn't created with a backstory in mind when I envisioned her. I'm going to have a lot of trouble with this I know it.

	Game becomes excuse. Your chance to make it happen, at least. Course I would suggest that if you do something like this that you make it to where you can come back to it at a later time. Although I guess you could also take an alternate route and say that it's something that is DIRECTLY influenced by the big baddie at the end...maybe they DID send actual robots but Viarra and possibly Teyla are the only two that actually encounter them (at least in a set of 4)...Rain and Anya (possibly Sukasa...I dunno if he's still 'only male in the fab five' or if it's four now) might just have casualties (me, since I can pull a system together that would work and lack originality otherwise) from it or people influencing it (which I think Anya's would be, since she can't let go of Crystaltina-based characters and go for originality). It's the only thing I can come up with on the fly with how everyone gets 'into it'. ____________________

The robots idea crossed my mind. It's the easy way out to say the least...but it does give me a way to at least participate without drawing up a complex backstory for Viarra.

(I feel like I need to come up with a better, more serious RP character for situations like this...I'll think about that more later and in another thread..)

Hmm, maybe the story could go something like, while the other characters are trying to get themselves together, like Rain is with her trying to get her spirits back, Viarra is confronting the robot hordes and that's why she faces robots instead of people she knows. That would coverup the lack of backstory characters.

	Mn...I was gonna make it a bit more distant than that. Anya/Rain can drop in when reports come in that 'something is going down somewhere'. Course, Anya's idea to do so...Rain will feel like she's dragged along, Anya goes one way and Rain goes another. The whole spirits problem for Rain would occur at the end of the intro stage for her...Anya doing whatever she wants with the Crystaltina branch-in, if that's her route, when this happens. It could very well also be that while they're attacking over wherever, they get around a spot where Viarra or Teyla is in different scenarios and Viarra and Teyla get involved for whatever reason (curiosity, sense of worry, righteousness, whatever). They'd have different intro stages and probably not shared with each other such as Anya having one route and Rain having another in the same spot (least that's the plan). ____________________

Whatever the backstory in-game, I think robot bosses would be the best way to include Viarra in the game at this point. We can discuss fine details of how she gets involved later.

I was thinking of the near-endgame once everyone meets. Everyone has different abilities right? From what I gather, the endgame would have you choosing 2 of the characters to go together onward. I'm thinking it would be more interesting if we had all 4-5 characters go onwards and be able to switch between them via menu or button press. And if each character has different platforming abilities, we can include parts where you have to switch characters to clear areas or access secrets. Viarra has speed so she can clear wider gaps, someone could have high jump height, Tyty mentioned Teyla with a drill buster attack, so she can break certain barriers, etc.

	Story-wise, I think the only thing I'm unclear on is if everyone knows everyone or not. Anya and Rain know each other...not sure about anyone else. As for later on, I would think you've got the idea. I think it'd be best that, if stage-based, you chose which two you'd use at the beginning of the stage (but could not change during the stage). Reason I say that is you may as well have all five of them accessible at any given time and not limit them to two anyways. But...it would be up the user to determine who are the best to bring with at any given stage...more to the fun. ____________________
