I'm on academic probation ladies and gentlemen, I have the most endearing GPA score of 1.138 and all my classes for next semester are put on hold until a) I get up to date Mental Disability testing b) I take NOVA's kiddie Disability Testing c) well I don't really know what "c" is but I am sure it will be there soon. I am seriously considering the fact that I might not be right for college. I mean I am not really sure I "want" it. It's not like you need a college education to write novel's (Which is my chosen profession). I can find regular work as a tradesman, I am good with my hands...I don't know...kind of lost here.

Tell me... Did you actually apply yourself at Nova? Because from what I've done there, it's piss easy... Not to mock you or anything... If it's a legit learning problem then that's understandable. :/

As far as how you go in life... If you've got your GED you can easily get a job. Maybe you could work at one of the various artisan shops in the area. Really, Northern VA is so diverse you could practically get work in any trade around here.

I know a friend who did test positive for a learning disability a few years back. He's now a construction warden. He's making good money and enjoys the work. It's like they say, some people just weren't cut out for education like that.

I went on academic suspension when I was in college.

0.4 GPA.

Oh and I graduated third in my class in high school.

Ain't that funny?

Interestingly enough I made Dean's List the next semester. I went from suspension to probation.

Well I have mapped out a plan now, going to call the Department of Rehabilitative Services to get my test results back and to see if they can help me with anything. They offer help with housing, job finding, insurance, transportation, and other things of that nature. Qualifying for these services is a double edged sword, on one hand if the person was normal to begin with then their lives generally wouldn't be so troublesome, but on the other you have access to all these nifty services. I am going to look fir a second job to be able to support health insurance, car insurance and other blood sucking deviltry like that. Finally I am putting a freeze on spending, need to put off that PS3 I was planning to buy

On a side note my mother has designed for me a "schedule".
What this means for me I don't know, but for some reason every time we speak of time management video games seem to pop up in the conversation. According to my mother, mature adults don't play video games so I should stop and be like a "mature" adult....pfff parents.

And good luck with the probation, I was at a 1.9 after my first semester and now as a 5th year senior with 6 credits left I have a 3.575 GPA, so you can definitely bounce back. Just gotta apply yourself.

There is a time and a place for videos games in our "adult" lives. While I don't play video games as much as I did when I was in middle school, I still play every now and then, and sometimes a few days in a row. The reason why I don't play so much is because I have so much other things to do now. Just depends on how you prioritize things. From what it seems, you didn't give enough time to what you should have. If you still have a desire to be in college, I strongly urge you to ride it out because college opened my mind to so many things I do not think I would have gotten. The school is doing its job that you get the best opportunity to learn in college. If it appears you need to have special treatment (such as extended testing times, better access to tutors, etc), it isn't such a bad thing. If it is determined that you do have a learning disability, at least you know it takes longer to do things and there is nothing wrong with that. Anyone who judges you negatively because you have a learning disability is a jerk and close-minded and probably people you don't want to be around anyways.

All in all, just keep at it and don't give up (corny I know, but it is true). Yes, it is possible to become an novelist without going to college. But opening those doors to be able to get your stuff published is harder without college, for it is supposed to make it easier for you to open doors.

Oh there's no way in hell I play as much as I once did. I used to marathon the shit all the time.

Now, I'm lucky to spend more than double digit hours a week playing because I have a life, job and other things I have to take care of since I'm living out on my own.

I play just about the same, if not more, video games than I did when I was younger. It all has to do with managing time, really. Get what you need done first and then have some fun.
