Oh right.... I must have missed the part about the statues in his post.... Since the overworld only uses one BG layer for most purposes, naturally gaps like that are going to occur in the tile layout. The brown gaps are simply the very back background color showing through. It of course would be possible to make tiles that fill in those gaps fairly easily.

In any case, even doing something slightly flawed like this would take much much longer in Hyrule Magic (the old Zelda 3 editor), so this is a step in the right direction.

I was just curious, since Link's Awakening had seperate tiles for trees that were on top of each other, and I figured Zelda 3, being on the SNES, might have the same features. Guess not.

Having not actually seen that area of the game in years it's hard to draw a comparison, so I wasn't sure if you were just showing off viewing/selecting capability or if you had actually done shit.

Video Description

This is a trailer for my upcoming hack Super Mario Omega which has been in production for over 2 years. I have put a lot of hard work into this hack and I am happy to announce that it is almost time for me to publicly release it!

Super Mario Omega features 7+ worlds, each with a unique theme and new challenges to overcome. I focused heavily on level design while making this hack, every level is different and no gimmicks or tricks are ever used more than once.

Super Mario Omega also features custom music, blocks, and graphics, and ASM hacks which help add to the game play experience. I also used every single test level inside of the ROM which means that there will be lots of secret areas and branching paths.

And finally, near the end of the video you may have noticed some levels that had graphics from a variety of retro games. There is a special world in Omega that features 9 levels from 9 of my favourite retro video games, are you skilled enough to find it?

Nah, Higsby, I really like the mix of custom, retro, original, and various other graphics you're using. It looks REALLY nice.


As for what I've got, here. This is a small underwater segment in the Ruins area of my super Metroid hack. My friend drew the actual tiles.

If you don't remember, 2WD couldn't be selected as an enemy in Speed Trax. What you see in the screenshots above is a work-in-progress patch which makes this possible.

IIRC 2WD was unlocked by beating Master mode. I have SRFX on my SNES, and I've definitely driven 2WD before.

EDIT: It's worth noting that your car select screen is different from mine, is that your doing?

The first screenshot is of the Speed Trax Enemy Selection menu which is mentioned on page 13 of the US version instruction manual.

Only the 2WD sprite and its stats on that screen were my doing.
