It sucks so hard right now.

I woke up this morning with another small -- but annoying pain on my right bottom wisdom teeth. Every other month the pain pops up and just pokes me trying to mess with me. So I got me some ora-gel, some asprin, and Tylonol PM to help me sleep tonight.

So the plan is tomorrow I am going to apply for some health insurance. Because damnit I think this is a good thing I need to do right now. I don't have a lot of money, but I know right now insurance will help lighten the load on some of the bills I am going to get getting my body straightened out. Wisdom tooth being the first. Later being a check-up.

Got any problems with wisdom teeth? How did it feel if you got them removed?

Well, my wisdom teeth (3) never hit the point of becoming a nuisance. I had them removed before they could grow in that far.

However, the process of recovery was... wellm more than mildly annoying. Can't recall the total time of my recovery very well; perhaps 1-2 weeks? Had gauze in my mouth quite often to absorb the leaking blood, and sat in an upright position when sleeping.

I'll tell you one thing, though. My post-surgery of wisdom removal didn't compare to the hell of post-tonsil removal, though. Tonsils? Living off of water, popsicles, and gatorade for a week; ridiculously soft food for the next week; then only mildly harder food for the following week. Ice cream right afterwards? A myth, obviously. The doctors told me that eating ice cream would cause a lot of mucus to build up in the back of my throat, and that it would not be good for the stitches. Being as careful as I could, I didn't go near ice cream 'til the end of the second week.

Anyway, recovery from practically all surgery sucks to some extent. In the end, though, you'll be better off without those teeth.

I had one of my wisdom teeth pulled about a month or two ago.
The dentist had to numb one side of my mouth and put all this stuff in it to get it out.
I then had to spend the rest of that day with gauze in my mouth (and that was just awful), and the next three days I was drinking (technically) salt water every three hours or so.
On top of that, since I play clarinet, I couldn't play that for a week.
Long story short, it was just plain awful.

Yeah I heard there is a slight chance of nerve problems when the procedure happens. But it's a very slim chance.

Bad thing about my tooth is that half of the tooth is just one big cavity, so every time I eat I have to carefully pick the tooth clean with a toothpick.

I went to see a dentist about it and he told me just the removal of that one tooth would cost me about $300. $900 for all the necessary teeth to be taken out. (Left wisdom tooth, and the tooth next to the one that is giving me problems. It too has a huge cavity on it.)

Tomorrow I am going to get insurance to help me pay for this. I am sick of this pain, and I want it out.

I actually went to the dentist on Wednesday and found out I have to get mine taken out because both of the bottom teeth are perpindicular facing inwards. Fortunately, they've never hurt me before. I'm just glad they caught this now before they started causing problems.

Never had problems, they were below the gum, dentist recommended they come out.

Obviously I'm not going to fondly remember the experience, but it didn't suck so badly. Plus I had all 4 taken out at the same time, so there.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out two years ago. It was actually really nice. The day of surgery I was out cold and enjoyed the restful tranquilizers that were being intraveneously administered, which was a far cry from my usual restlessness and insomnia. I was given a prescription for vicodin, which kept me out for another few days. A lot of people complain about the pain, but for me there was no pain, just a lot of blood. I lost no sleep over it, and what little pain there was was easily pacified by the painkillers I was given. When the bleeding stopped, I found myself well-rested, without pain, and four teeth lighter.

You will be fine.

It also depends on the person. I threw up on the car ride home.....and in the doctor's office shortly after....it was mostly blood, but still.

Just make sure when you do get this taken care off, take a few days off of work.

Yes, well, there is no lack of truth to what I said -- if the teeth are removed, he will be fine. At least, he will be in a lot better condition than if they were never removed in the first place. I would argue that the ease at which his mouth will operate post-removal will completely outweigh any kind of discomfort he may have to stand through during the healing process.

Mind you, Anya is correct -- it may in fact suck royally while it is happening.

I had no issues when I had them taken out/during the process. The meds were awesome. I just hated that I had to be hooked up to an IV.

That was the first time I had an IV needle. The last time someone tried to put an IV needle in me, I was in the back of an ambulance and I freaked out. Funny, I get a shot each month, but I can't stand IVs for some reason.

I can empathize. I dislike having my blood drawn, though I have no real issues with getting shots otherwise. I just feel uncomfortable having my blood removed from my body surgically.

Going the cheap alternative. I am going to go for the gas besides being asleep. So far I called up the office that was referred to me. And with that option, I am looking at about 400 dollars. Which isn't bad.

Gonna call up other offices in my area and see what they can offer me.

Is this with insurance? I had three of mine taken out, gotten stitches, got the IV and it was around $150 to $200 dollars. I can't remember the exact amount, but it was around there.

No Insurance. Should have gotten these taken care of before I got braces. But oh well.

$390 isn't that bad considering my situation. However I do not have that kinda money. So for the next two weeks, I am just gonna tell my grandmother she is gonna have to live without me paying her for awhile. My teeth come first, and she can live without the 120 for this month. I need to get this tooth pulled. (Which also means no drinking. Sob)

I got the money provided to get them pulled (As well as some extra for the future computer I am building. But I also am using it in case I need it badly. But meh).

I called up the Oral Surgeon today and I got some surprising news. It turns out I am not feeling pain in my teeth, he thinks it is my jawbone.

Back when I was in Elementry school. I had a bad tic. As in I popped my jaw and kinda jerked. After therapy, the tics don't come as much (Sucks the stuttering is still there. Oh well), but I still pop my jawbone a lot.

He can fix this for me for free. I have a nervous tention in my jaw that is shorter than my other side according to my Doctor. And he understands my situation. The state can pay for it. But the Wisdom teeth still has to go. Which will cost me a little less than his quote. Which is good.

As for Medication. I have a friend's mother who is playing doctor, and is going to give me 5 days of Percs in retailiation to the Vicoden he was going to perscribe to me (A Whopping 90 dollars for Vicoden).

So yeah, Percs work. It really makes me sleepy. Vicoden makes me seriously wonky.

As for a special bonus. He discovered a very small Cyct under my jawbone. Which could mean death for me. Luckily, it's small, and I chose to be awake the entire time. So I get to breathe pure oxygen during the entire procedure, as well as take Laughing gas! Horray!
