This thread made me decide to finally sign into my YouTube account after about a year and a half of inactivity (although that doesn't mean that I haven't been watching any videos, it just means that I haven't felt like signing in  ).

| So it appears to be a toolbar that is placed at the bottom of your browser window (only when at YouTube.com) that shows what videos your friends are currently watching in RealTime. It also shows your friend's recent activity (similar to how the YouTube main page shows what videos your friends have recently added to their favorites).
