General Tips On How To Be Solid Snake

You are the James Bond of Team Fortress 2, except with less drinking and more stabbing. Cloak, disguise, position, stab, sap, repeat.

- Whenever you disguise, remember to play the part of the character you just chose. If you are being spychecked by engineer, for example, try to act like you weren't even bothered by it. This can fool even the skilled players, except for pyros. Fire burns. When choosing a disguise, try to choose the ones, which are most likely to be seen on the area you are going to enter. For example, engineers and demomen in defense.

- Stab n' Sap. Approaching an engineer, watch the sentry so that it faces away from the engineer. Quickly stab the engineer, switch to your sapper and sap the sentry, as it's turning to shoot you. The higher level sentry, the faster it is going to turn, so be careful.

- One of the less used tricks is to disguise as your own team. This way you can fool attackers to follow you, cloak, circle around them and stab. They'll never know what hit them.

- Even if you are a "lone wolf", work with your team. Inform and ask when they want to sap a crucial turret, for example in a 2fort turtle. This can decide a victory.

- Do not underestimate your revolver. When you are fleeing an enemy, swap to it and blast away. The revolver also deals good damage to buildings even at long range, as it's damage does not diminish, like it normally does on players. Find a good spot, hide and snipe the enemy buildings with it. It can destroy a building in progress with only one or two shots.

- Reloading your revolver in disguise will make your disguised weapon reload too. Fool the enemies!

- Sentries cannot shoot through dispensers built by the same engineer and they're often built very close to eachother. You can stab the engineer working with his sentry, crouch behind the dispenser and re-disguise, stopping the sentry from shooting you. Sap and run. Also, you can use this trick to make the engineer commit suicide with his sentry, if they are situated correctly:

[ You ] - [ Dispenser ] - [ Engineer ] - [ Turret ]

Shoot at the engineer, which will cause you to drop your disguise. The turret will rotate and blast the engineer into pieces, while the dispenser shields you. Re-disguise, sap and run.

- Remember, you can use the cloak to escape from dire situations. Even if it takes a moment to be fully stealthed, it's worth to be half-visible than fully visible to enemies. Ammo packs also replenish cloak (at the moment), so you can stay cloaked for extremely long if you know where the packs are situated.

- Your main prey is the engineer. If he's running somewhere else, lure him to you by sapping or shooting at the buildings. Stab, sap, one less engineer for a moment. Snipers are another good target - they are often concentrated on the sniping, leaving you an opening for stab. If you can't get to a proper backstab position, it is better to switch to your revolver and blast him, since it deals more damage from close range than the knife and gives you the possibility to back away, if things get too hot. Don't forget to hunt heavy + medic combinations too.

- While in disguise, swapping weapon and pressing the Last Disguise - button will swap your disguised weapon.

- If you run out of stealth with Cloak and Dagger and move, you will be half-visible. Staying still will cloak you in 0.5 - 1 seconds. This weapon is really handy on sabotage missions... at least I fell in love with it instantly!

Hmm. Well some of those maps do get out of control pretty fast. I've gone an hour without anyone capping anything- however I really like Badlands and I think that's been shortened, too.

This is why Arena = good idea.

The problem with 1 cap is that you can lolscoutrush and, often times, make it in and out with it before they even get their defenses set up. :\

I wonder what would happen if respawn times got longer as the match progressed; TGP's servers have about half (or less) respawn time, meaning that even if you roast all of the players, they're going to be back before you can make it out with the goodies. Hell, in some cases I've been able to repair my sentry from a Sapper that was set right when I died.

One time I victoriously destroyed a sentry all by my pyro self and my team was only like a minute (NOT EVEN THAT MORE LIKE 20 SECONDS GOOD LORD) behind me. By the time they got there it was already up again and a level 2 :|

As far as Single cap goes, that was a bug that was carried from the Steamroll map. It changed the settings for each of the maps afterwards. Single cap for that map made sense because it was a combination of Arena and CTF.

Now, as far as reloading your weapon as a Spy, I will have to try that.

Oooh. Those Spy tips actually taught me something. I already do the disguising as a friendly on maps that I know (helps save cloaking charge). Recently, I've been relying more on the revolver, but I have yet to use it to snipe out sentries. I did think about it after a match on Egypt (it was then I realized that I could've sniped out sentries that I had trouble getting too cause I couldn't time myself with the enemy deaths (the sentries were setup near a respawn, and thus I'd bump into someone very easily)

That thing about reloading.. I totally never knew that, and that means I may have let a few spies into the base because I saw someone reloading.

I should try doing more stab-then-sapping. That's the one thing I haven't gotten myself used to. I'm usually too afraid to do it.

I'm going to miss being a spy. I prefer not to be a spy when the team has more than one already.

As much as I enjoy being a pyro, I love taking out spies as a scout or heavy.
