After the test was over I got to keep my score sheet and almost all of the sections (turning, lane changing, etc) had a comment in them about it being to slow . Luckily I don't normally drive like that so I should be fine.

Thanks for the congrats everyone .

So can you guys get your full license once you turn 16?
It's a three year process here...

Nah, just the learners and then you have to wait until you turn 18 to get the actual.

Here it's get the learners, have that for a year, get an N license, with restrictions on passengers, have that for two years, then your full license.

Grats on passing, Higsby.

Now that I think about it, getting a license/job should be much easier. I ran into what seemed like loops, before...

I had to do a written test when I turned 16 to get my G1 (license that lets you drive if you have a passenger that has a full G license). The test that I just took was for my G2 (You're supposed to wait a full year after you get your G1 before you can take it although because I took driver's ed the wait time was reduced to 8 months) which allows me to drive alone on any road. The only restriction is that I can only have one passenger that is under the age of 20 in my car from midnight to 5AM for the first 6 months after I get my G2 (after that it goes up to a max of 3). Technically I still have to go for my full G license which gets rid of those restrictions although it isn't completely necessary as I highly doubt that I'll be driving after midnight anyway .

Wow, seriously?

I got mine when I was 16 without restrictions. I didn't really see the point of them adding them...if you're gonna suck as a driver, age really doesn't have a lot to do with it more than actual experience and the ability to not drive like a total asswipe on the road.

And trust me...I deal with plenty, regardless of the setting...even with something as simple as a turn signal. Just those little things that people did as a means of courtesy that would make my day go a little better. Not riding up my ass, going at least the speed limit and turn signals are probably my top three outside of the rudeness that's around cutting people off or being complete dipshits on the road like they were drunk or something.

Those are the people that shouldn't have a license at all...restrictions or otherwise.

BC. Our driving laws are ridiculous.

It's the exact same 3-year deal here in Alberta too.

I still like the one that my mother coined a decade or more back. Some way to take a plunger gun or similar and shoot it at vehicles that pass by or get close if they fuck around on the road. Make it easier for them to be spotted by the police.

Too bad that's impractical and abuse-able as hell but hey...it's a thought!

I think that in Canada once you get to a certain age you do have to take the test again*, although I could be wrong about that.

*My grandfather told me that he never even had to take a test. Back then they just gave him his license when he was old enough .
