Tragedy is something we all have to deal with. Some people find pleasure in the misfortune of others and choose to make fun of it. Now, personally, I believe there's nothing wrong with jokes that are in bad taste. I've been amused by many parodies and jokes about such things. But some of you may disagree. Some of you may call those people immature. You may be so pretentious that you're technically more annoying than the most assholish of assholes. But let's not get into that. All that matters is that there are issues surrounding joking about tragedy, and there are generally five kinds of stances on it: those who enjoy it, those who make it, those who don't care, those who hate it, and those who REALLY hate it.

But a man in Australia was so angry at two people for laughing at the death of a cat, that he took up an axe and killed them both. He hates mocking tragedy so much, that he believes in the killing of those who do it. That or he has serious emotional issues. Incidently, those two people were his parents. His excuse? He thought they had poisoned the cat.

I mean seriously, what the FUCK?

You need to understand that bottled up issues that occur during early and teenage years can boil over easily.

You are looking at this at face value. You assume that "assuming they poisoned the cat = killing them"... but read the rest of the article. It is to be believed that he has had deep psycological problems since childhood that finally boiled over.

In short, I think you are the wrong one here, not him, and I sincerely hope he does not get punished severely for this -- he needs psycological help more than imprisonment.

Yep. This man was just severely deranged, and it was likely caused by his parents being horrible people. I mean, who the hell laughs at the death of someone's pet? If these people would do that, I don't know what other things they have done to him.

I don't condone what the man did by any means but I can't say I'm surprised, or that I blame him.

Indeed it was his rage. His parents might have caused him many issues, or maybe there were some events that traumatized him or whatever. The whole laughting at his pet death was a trigger and it could have happened with anything else...

As Xk said this man needs psycological help... Prison will turn him crazy and make him become a maniac or a psycho, which will lead him to death either as punishment (I don't know if that's done in australia, if not ignore it then) or maybe suicide...

Wow. This makes me wonder what must have happened to this man to make him snap like that.

If his parents have mistreated him as a kid, I would've questioned their sanity as well (of course, this would be somewhat irrelevant now). I mean, the normal thing for a parent would be to love their child and wish for it's best. (The point is.. if you mistreat someone you love.. or are supposed to love, then surely, something isn't right..)

Of course, it might not have been his parents, it might have been anything.

Aside from that, yeah, I agree that this man would most likely need help, and I am actually somewhat surprised to see that most people that have posted so far share that point of view.

I speak mostly from experience; I have gone insane with my mother and it's oftentimes tracable back to just about everything else.

You tend to snap after a while, and once you do, you can't stop yourself. Nothing you do will end it until it runs its course...
