I forgot about that idea, remembered it (not realizing I had already thought of it earlier) in a way that there would be 6 seperate slides, then thought it wouldn't fit into the hack.

Here is the unfinished "Koopa Canyon" level. One of the reasons I gave up on it was because Mario64's collision doesn't handle very well complex X,Y,Z rotations, resulting in glitchy behaviors.

If somebody manages to do a nice and simple (forget about making complex geometry with the blocks, it just doesn't works well) level it might get in the hack.

By the way, I couldn't resist making a short video showing (but not spoiling) some misc scenes:

Thanks, the hack is almost finished.

There are 25 stars, with a gameplay time of about 1 to 2 hours.

I still have to fix some small anoyances, such as correcting some warps when you die/get stars, insert more custom music, improve the dialogs and doing some small fixes on objects position. Pretty soon I'll start a beta test phase, as at this point some external perspective will be very important.

I hope you guys will like the final result , there are some cool surprises.

It's amazing how Flatworld Battlefield evolved from a flat plane to a full-featured mega hack like this, and that without even a polygon importer And that, thanks to you messiaen, and obviously all the others who participated in creating this hack, which is a team effort after all!

Almost done with it . There are 28 stars, and I guess this is the final number. I tried my best to make the level design as polished and natural as possible. Now the only thing missing is a basic plot and a name .

I came up with "Mario64: A New Adventure", which is very simple and unpretentious (even a bit tasteless I admit), but unless I can think of something better that's probably it.

How about: Mario 64: Curse of the Koopa King. A story about a horribly unusual curse made by Bowser, causing the entire Mushroom Kingdom to be made exactly how Bowser wishes it to be. Now, Mario and Luigi Must collect Stars that Bowser failed to destroy, and find a way to restore the Kingdom before it's too late!

Bob-omb8194: the problem is that Bowser isn't included in the hack, so your idea would create a false expectative. I just need a valid 'excuse' to explain why Mario needs to search for 28 stars around the city and its surroundings. Nevertheless, thanks for the suggestion .

One idea that could work is that, after Mario gets the Power Star from Bowser, something happens and that star is broken in little pieces, scattered all over the kingdom. Sounds too cliché?

That sounds better. I didn't know Bowser wasn't in it, but I can't wait for the hack! When do you think it will be finished?

I guess "The Missing Stars" fits the storyline I came up with, so I'll use it. Thanks a bunch Darkdata .

Here's a new title screen:

Just wondering: can't you display the logo before the star faded out? (what I'm talking about is the first 2 seconds of the video)
