Bosses should be challenging, not annoying.

Annoying means that you could care less and you want to stop playing. Challenging means that you keep wanting to try it because it takes skill and you know that you can do it eventually.

That makes no sense. Most challenging bosses in the mario games if you can't beat them are annoying. All I did was add a chainchomp to make the boss harder and more challenging. If someone gets annoyed over it, it is there own fault. Note: I also added a red coin above that Chain Chomp. I am going to make a thread for this mod once I get 1 video on Youtube at least. I don't find it annoying. XD! in fact you do not even have to worry about the chain chomp. All you have to do is fight by the edge and grab the star after you beat him.

But if he can be circumvented by merely standing on the edge and waiting then he's just there to waste the players time.

And that is a rather bad design choice.

It use to be part of the boss scheme, but because it was a bad choice like you had said, I edited things around. You saw the star inside the cage pic. That cage is basically 2 grills, 1 on each side, and the red coin that use to be their needed to be moved, and it was moved to where the chain chomp was. That is the main reason I have not moved the Chain Chomp. I am having trouble figuring out how to make the boss harder.

Also you need mod approval to make a thread about it. Youtube doesn't mean crud.

NO what I meant about putting it on youtube is. I am not(even with approval) going to post a thread until after I have at least one video on Youtube. I did not say that I was going to make a thread without approval. I am indeed a noob here. XD! it might be opposite. I will have a video on Youtube, but I will not have approval yet.

That, is how you make a boss challenging (Though you probably don't know how to attach fire spewers to moving enemies. I know I don't).

Still, putting a bunch of those things throughout the ring for the King Bob-Omb battle would make it challenging, because fire can be avoided if you're careful, while chain chomps are just downright annoying.

Hmm, challenging. Messian must have been messing with behavior scripts when he did that. I managed to make him harder, and I moved the Chain Chomp and Coin.

It's an ASM hack which checks Whomp's current action and, on certain moves, spawns the flame.

By the way, here's an experimental, proof of concept hack written in C which gives Mario the ability to throw fireballs. Its unrelated to "The Missing Stars", because I'm not even sure if I can get this to work decently. I'll save it for a future project if I can make it work better.

<object width="425" height="344"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FVUgEl8roUQ&hl=pt-br&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The fire direction depends on the current Mario rotation, but since this is affected by automatic camera moves, sometimes its hard to control it. I had to offset a bit the fire position so that it doesn't hit Mario right away (the problem is more the collision with his shadow/ground dust and other small objects constantly spawned than Mario itself).

Wow messiaen! Impressive...

I guess we'll eventually be able to use that unused beta flower texture for something

I have seen that texture before, in the tile molester. I put it in the Texture Edits folder of my hack, but it is VERY low quality. The odd thing about it is that it appears in Cool Cool Mountain with texture codes on. You should put it with the Toad's Tool Version 6 coming out. You could also put the lava texture in it, too.

That would be cool. Are you saying that you are going to use the texture in future versions of TT64 for people who are not good at code *Points to himself* as an easy way to have Fire Mario. Kinda like what you did with Luigi?

I got a Youtube video for My Mod now if you guys want to watch it.
Here is the link ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuPVDzUqw_8

BTW... Metal_Man (other Mod guy.) XD! sorry don't know whole user name, says that I need Permision to make my own thread for My mod. So is it alright if I make a thread VL-Tone?

Well when/if messiaen perfects his Mario fireball code, it could be eventually included in TT64 if he wants to.

As for the flower texture, TT64 only displays textures that can be found by loading all objects. Unlike the Yoshi egg texture which does exists as an object in the game (you can put it in some levels using TT64), the flower texture doesn't seem to be referenced by any objects in the released game.

I do plan to eventually make some other textures editable in TT64, like water, lava, HUD icons and fonts, but not in version 0.6b (but this one will include a sky background editor).

Unfortunately for you gamekrazzy, I can't allow a new thread for your mod. It does look nice, but simple texture hacks is not something we believe is worthy of having its own thread. Furthermore, we only allow major hacks that are already in progress to have their own thread.

Anyway this thread is not drowned with mods, yours won't go unnoticed if you post updates about it here.

VL-Tone... Do you know any better recording devices then Fraps, because I need to record more then 30 seconds worth to show you that this is not merely a texture hack. In fact if you look back a ways you will see that I am trying to make the bosses harder. That I am working on making harder levels. I got rid of Kupa the Quick from Bob-omb Battle field. Replaced that with a hard but easy puzzle, because when you finish the puzzle you know how to get the star. The star is inside a caged area. I added 2 Fire Spewers 1 on each side of the Boss fight against King Bob-omb. There is a wall jump exersise to get a star in a box replacing star #3 or the shoot to the island in the sky act. As you might notice this is not just a texture hack, but a Hack. I made people have to fight bowser in the beggining, AND I AM STILL WORKING ON THIS! IT IS STILL A PROJECT IN WORK.

What I use is Camstudio. Depending on whether or not your computer can handle it, you can have it record both audio and video.

Unfortunately for me, my computer sucks (Well, it's a laptop), so I record the video part with camstudio and then I record the audio directly from the game using Project64's audio settings. After that I try to sync both things together in Windows Movie Maker, and I chop out little bits of the video so that it isn't too badly out of sync, and then I upload it to Youtube.

I found it, but how do you get it to only play one window A.K.A Project64. You've done this before. IDK how to only get one window. and in full screen it gets all messed up when recording.

Region -> Fixed Region

Make the width 643 and the height 476

Now, open up PJ64 and press the red circle button. Place the box over PJ64 like so:

Once you've got it somewhere remotely like that, just left click and it'll record. When you're done, hit the stop button and give it a name, and then give it time to save. It usually takes awhile.
