| Hiyo! Newcomer here! I have been working and checking around Battle Arena Toshinden 3 for PS1, a somewhat obscure fighting game by Tamsoft with awesome OST. Anyway, I wanted to share my findings so far, so first off I have manage to rip unused voice lines from the game files, thanks to PSound, and there was like 8 minute worth of unused lines, which I documented in Youtube video (I have the audio files sorted out in case I start to make the article.): https://youtu.be/bzn0ZshwRqs Also, when I checked the main PSX executable (SCES_007.00) via hex editor, I found two strings mentioning about Team Battle mode which is not actually in the final game or maybe at least dummied out. Unfortunately I don't have any experience about actual RAM/HEX editing, so I can't find it out myself if the mode is actually playable or not. ![]() Interestingly enough American version's back cover mentioned about Team Battle mode as one of three "exclusive modes"; American/European version included Survival and Practice mode which weren't in Japanese version, which leads to the next question: were there any mentions about Survival and Practice mode in Japanese version? Unfortunately I still need to track down the Japanese version, although I saw it on Japanese PSN store, so I could buy it from there and check out files and see if there were any mentions about those modes already. Lastly, American/Europe version had unused FMV as well, although it is only very corrupted PIE/Playmates logo (they published Battle Arena Toshinden 3 in America) with ear-rape loud static (Don't worry, I disabled the sound in the video). In final game, there's only still picture of PIE logo, which European version doesn't have. (SCEE handled the release): https://youtu.be/Y60F90IH6jw There are some things left like unused "Perfect" logo, leftovers from Battle Arena Toshinden 2 (there are plenty of them because the game was rushed and released in a year) and differences between every version; yes, that includes European as wekk version because it has few differences as well, although like I mentioned before, I still have to find Japanese version so I can finally do the comparisons and start work on the actual article. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my findings. (Oh, and I hope I posted this on right place, heh) |
