Recently I've gotten my hands on a neat program that turns audio into pretty waveforms, like this:

Since I love to study what chiptune music is made of - what are the capabilities of specific chips, where do certain signature sounds come from, what kind of tricks the composers used - I've been making a variety of videos like these. Generally, I pick a song, use a tool to record each channel separately, then use the visualization tool, SidWiz, to make a video.

Here are the videos I've made so far. When watching these videos, make sure to switch to 60fps if your computer can handle it!

Game Boy
WonderSwan
Neo Geo Pocket
Master System
Game Boy Advance
PXTone
If you want more, other people making these videos include Flygon (mainly SMS/SMD), KapteinKUK (C64), Highway Guy (C64), Cyril Moutot (mainly GB).

If you have any favorite songs you'd like to see visualized in this way, feel free to make a post! Even if it's a platform I haven't done yet, I'm gonna see if I can find a way to do it.

These are a lot more fun to watch than I anticipated. I especially like the Sunset Park Zone Train video. It looks like the squares are dancing!

If I had one suggestion, it would be the flower stage music from Yoshi's Island, particularly for the way it uses its lead instrument.

These are all pretty neat. Having them split out makes it a lot easier to follow than what you normally see (all merged into one)

Ah, thank you! I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was neat to see how the lines jiggled.

The SID chip is rad, also I do agree C64 wavesforms are pretty cool to watch.
