Well, it's been about a decade, but I can still assemble a computer from parts. Huzzah.

In related news, I now have a new desktop! i5 processor, 4 gb of RAM, an actual dedicated video card... I might be able to play real games now!

	People think it's hard, but it's really not. Match up the slot types and you're pretty much good to go. The hardest part is usually picking out which case you like best Everyone is building new PCs around me, making me want to build one with our tax returns... but we have bills to pay off first ____________________

Yeah, the hardest part was getting the mobo to sit right in the case (I ended up tossing the metal piece that covers up around the ports. I see the cables for power and data on drives have changed, but other than that, it was pretty cut-and-dry.

oh, yeah, fitting the motherboard in to a case can be annoying, especially with cheaper cases where the production tolerances aren't quite as they should be. Also, they're much easier to put together than 10 or 15 years ago. Basically everything is keyed and only goes in the correct spots. The annoying parts are the front panel connectors and specific RAM installation configurations usually require looking at the manual to get it right.

Another complication can be getting hardware that is compatible with each other as far as motherboard, CPU and RAM go, but that's not too bad with a bit of research.

As for riding bikes, I've never learned, heh.

True. Like the fiasco I had putting together my last PC. Even though the motherboard manufacturer said it supported the CPU I bought, it would never work. Building a computer for the first time is always arduous. After that though, it's easier. Especially since they make it much easier to do than say, back in the dark ages of weird formats and razor-sharp edged cases.

I remember I had a 'computer repair' :eyeroll: class in high school and the teachers biggest warning for us was to make sure we didn't get shocked because if we did, we were liable to yank our hand out of the case and rip a thumb open or something.

I of course had that happen once (just a small cut).
