Post #3867 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (#2 is probably the only screenshot worth posting because I'm an idiot and left my mouse cursor on the screen hurr) Right next to the mirror mode flag in memory is an unused vertex Y scale parameter. (Gameshark code 810DC608 ???? default value 3F80) As far as I can tell, this whole memory block is copied from ROM somewhere, and the value never gets changed from 1. It affects hit detection (see if you can get to Royal Raceway's ramp at 5x scale), so it can't just be used for graphic effects. In fact even just scaling to 2x or 0.5x causes some problems (graphics out of place, walls no longer solid, unclimbable hills; Rainbow Road crashes at 2x). I haven't put this on the wiki because I've been getting "server is taking too long to respond" errors for the past several days. I'm about 90% certain it's unused since I didn't see the game ever modify it and can't imagine what use it would have, but I didn't do an exhaustive search; there could be some reference in the code somewhere.
