i was hacking nfs4 on psx and found that some non upgradeable cars actually have upgrades wich you can access via hacking,also the trafic cars can be used in game:

Edit: i also tried to change the cursor on main menu after the "trophy room" and...

strangely,after you select an option the song changes,and when u go back to the main menu,"view vram" is still there...

Can anybody translate Chinese? I found this in Metroid Fusion.
Its location in VRAM suggests it says "language", but only the EU version uses the feature.

another psx hacking,this time is for tm3:

unused tm2 like camera,and probably a placeholder camera for the menu,also a dummy weapon wich does minimal damage(just like a normal bullet) and goes straight like power but with spectre's special color,and a hidden message i found while using another vid plugin:

Actually, for the sake of Need For Speed: High Stakes, there's a pretty good regional difference you could cover.

Namely, the Ford Falcon XR-8. It's only in other versions by name alone and crashes the game when you attempt to load it (possibly due to required files being missing), but in the Australian version of the game fully features the car.


There are other oddities, too, worth covering. A gameshark code can enable the use of police cars in the PS1 version of NFS3: Hot Pursuit. There is a game mode in the PC version that lets you drive the police cars, but it was cut out of the PS1 version for some reason. The police vehicles are fully functional and have their own unique stats, though there appear to be some minor visual glitches using police cars on tracks other than the ones they usually appear on (namely, the sirens will put shadows on the road instead of colored lights).

Or how about that unique version of the original PS1 release of Need For Speed completely dedicated to the Nissan Skyline GT-R series of vehicles?

lol,i noticed about ford falcon xr-8,there seems to be 99999 place holders with the first car with this name instead,didnt even knew about the other versions having it,also,i never even tried nfs3 or nfs2,gotta look into them,also,a nfs of nissan skylines? i only knew about nfs5 porsche unleashed,lol

It's pretty much the first NFS released on PS1 with Skylines, and an R390 racer tagging along.


As for NFS3 police cars, I'll give you my starting point. With the Greatest Hits version of the game, the GameShark code '80125F10 01FF' (Unlock all cars and tracks) allowed me to play with the police vehicles in modes other than pursuit, where you're only allowed to use a specific set of cars rather than all of the one available.

I can't remember what car translated to what police vehicle, as the car selection menu wouldn't show police machines. Maybe they have their own values in the select screen, or there's some toggle that the code trips unknowingly.

As for features exclusive to the cop cars, I think that double tapping up on the Dpad toggled your siren and lights, and holding it would make one of the police lines play.

Etrian Odyssey 1 (NDS, European version) item data dump, containing numerous items without names nor descriptions, which are presumably unused. Just the first of two data tables for now, i.e. equipable items like weapons and armor, the second one's probably all the other stuff like medicine, etc.

Names and descriptions appear in-game as !" instead of blanks, but otherwise the items appear to work fine. Tried equipping axe 0x35, got the +12 ATK it's supposed to give, worked correctly in battle, can be sold for 192en...

someone discovered some unused track icons on the Mario Kart 8 disc, and some filenames, suggesting incoming DLC tracks. I kinda expected that, but I was glad to hear someone was already into datamining the disc. We have any info on how this is done, or is that the article misinterpreting some of the memory dumps we've been able to do for a couple months?

This isn't relevant enough to put on the VR Troopers (Genesis) page, but it is a little fun little detail.

Due to some screw up, the opening segment of the game's rendition of the VR Troopers game plays twice. The first is in sample form (Countdown, 4, 3, 2, 1! -- Actually truncated a bit from the original show opening) and then the same bit is played in a YM2612 form.

This does not happen if you let the game's attract sequence, or cutscenes play out.

Press start to be brought to the main menu, you get the Countdown sample and then the YM2612 version of the main theme. Perhaps sampled audio wasn't able to be called in a YM2612 track, at least under Syrox's sound engine.

I'm also still wondering where in the hell all the Jeb clips were used. Maybe they were developer jokes?

I think it is worth adding. We already have a section specifically for weird things that are worth mentioning, as we see in the Ocarina of Time and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night articles.

Like, I'd suggest someone on the SMB3 article explain why there's flicker on the right side of the screen. Years ago at acmlm, someone looked into it and found it was a simple mistake that was easy to fix with a single byte change. No one seems to have saved the patch for this, but because it's something so many players are unaware of, it would be interesting to document and preserve. Developer oversights and mistakes are also categorized on the wiki articles.

It's not just a one-byte fix, and I personally don't think it's a mistake, or worth documenting at all. Lots of NES games were visually glitchy because they pushed the system to do things it was not designed to do.

Besides, I have my douts as to that patch's safety, considering it prevents the game from disabling DMC IRQs (which Nintendo probably had a good reason to do). It may seem to "work", but how do you know it's not going to cause the game to hard-lock or glitch horribly at some indeterminate point?

The flicker on that page is talking about the status bar. I am talking about the palette issue on the right side of the screen that also shows the wrong tiles. Is that the page you meant to link?
