Lighting effect 4 is unused.
Seems to be some sort of sunset or desert lighting effect.
Apparently you can see it in some beta video.

If you manage to edit a boss game (which you can't normally do) you can see an invisible button for selecting the timer mode as a boss game, though there is no text and the button is partly off-screen.
Is this the sort of thing that goes on TCRF?

YouTube video description translation:
The beta version of one of the best selling Mario games on Nintendo DS
I just want to know has anybody watched this video before the account got terminated, have the video downloaded with sites like keepvid.com or know where to find it online?
I have tried:
• MIT YouTomb
• Downloading the video with keepvid.com or simllar
• Searching for the video id and title on Google
• Contacting masterferna (user who posted video) outside of YouTube
• Finding the original source of the video
I have had success with:
• Finding the original source of the video
(I found it by accident)
http://www.gamekyo.com/video3832_video-new-super-mario-bros.html
But the video is down.
I have tried:
• Contacting gamekyo to fix the link
• Searching for the file name (mms://jeuxfrance.net/JeuxFrance/Nintendo_France_Event_2005/Nintendo_DS/New_Super_Mario_Bros.wmv)

Do DS demos (like the zelda preview trailer), count as prototypes/should they be on the wiki?
This stuff was never meant to be sold or widely distributed.
And some do contain unused content.
Some of them are prototypes of games, but what about ones which are not?

What about things which are not games or are tech demos?

I have a question about Japanese (?) text:
In the DS game New Super Mario Bros. file-names are in English but they are made up of words like Jyotyu or Chika.
How do you describe this way of writing Japanese text?
Is it possible to translate it to English properly?

Could you translate this:
(the dashes show that the file is a sub-file of the above, to help with the translation)
hatena
km1_dorifu
-itimatu
-yuka

Inside km1_dorifu is two textures:
-itimatu
(which is a checkered square)
and
-yuka
(which is a sandy texture).
The checkered sqaure can't be seen in game and if the sandy texture is used it must be wrapped round something and streched to be unrecognisable. It is not the tornado object, that uses the file 'tornado' which contains one texture -different to this sandy one.
I have a feeling these are leftover textures from Super Mario 64 DS (used in there for the ground or something).
Could you also translate these please:
menbo (context = bomb_menbo, I think its the skeeter (water skating insect that shoots bombs))
bombhei (some sort of robot, bomb , chain chomp or block?)
donketu (some sort of koopa or laquti type creature?)
gamaguchi (some sort of robot, bomb , chain chomp or block?)
gasagoso (some sort of robot, bomb , chain chomp or block?)
hojiro (some sort of fish?)
tekkyu (some sort of robot, bomb , chain chomp or block?)
wakaba (a red/yellow dot or eye)
kabochan (lightning stuff and might be laquti textures?)
totte (inside file called m_hole, contains some sort of hole?)
met (some sort of koopa or laquti type creature?, also has met_body and met_shell)
noko (red koopa shell)
paipo (red thing, creature?, fish?)
puyo (wobbly brick block platform - full name: puyo_lift (lift means platform - as in moving platform))
rc_buranko (container of below with dashes ( - ) )
-obj_tetu (yellow metal block like with 4 screws around the edge)
-obj_tubu (silver metal block with two big diagonal screws)
-obj_yane (blue stone wall)
There used to be a machine themed world (world 6 - which has the tank boss, in the final, and is sort of slightly metal themed).

Most of these are used, but the iron ball, swing, drift, hatena switch and few others are not:
tcrf.net/New_Super_Mario_Bros./Unused_Graphics
There are still some that I would like you to translate though:
These are used but their meaning might be helpfull, to understand what the unused stuff in them might have been used for:
jyotyu (blocks, pipes and other common stuff)
tikei_yakata_nise (first world 8 castle)

Speaking of MSpaint clones, the only good one I have ever found is Kolour Paint (cross-platform).

It's breaking guidelines if it does not exist in a released version.
I personally don't know how updates in Minecraft work though.

Originally posted by omega59 So, I was on the web a while back, checking on 3D brew, and I found out a few things about the 3DS, and how much it'd cost to find a way to hack one. For the 3D Brew project, I think they needed $2000 to get around the security chip, they're doing so by opening the thing up, which is expensive since it's supposedly 10 layers. So how many of you would be interested in looking at 3DS games, I'd say Star Fox 64 3D and Ocarina of Time 3D would be the easier ones to crack for starters. I think in OoT 3D, they left in the Sakura (I think) test level, since a pre-release Japanese video had it, with two Wolfoes I believe. So what are your thoughts on this?
Could you post the link to the video of OoT 3D?

I have created a bob unused object catergory for objects which have functionality and not just graphics, but are not enemies.
I'm not sure if I have done it correctly or if people agree with it's creation so...
