| It's the usual story. Girls dig asshole guys. It's just the way it is. You'd be better of giving your girl a good smack in the face every so often than being the nice guy or doing the right thing. It's just that. I've seen it happen so often. It crosses cultural barriers, defies logic and can't be rationalized, but the more you're a dick to your girl, the more likely she is to stay. So-called battered woman syndrome takes this to the extreme, but it's pretty much visible in anything that doesn't have a penis between their legs :| So, in short, get over it and don't do anything bad and-or stupid to yourself and others. Stop caring at once and forget her. I know everybody says "forget her" and it's not that easy. But you should do exactly that. Get that bitch out of your life, don't answer calls, don't read texts or emails. That simple. She wants to get it from some guy that doesn't care about her and that's just that. For the other thing, I think you shouldn't overreact and kill yourself over something. Really. I mean, there is tons of stuff to live for. Ice cream, sex and feeling intellectually above everybody else are just at the top of the list ![]() cYa, Tauwasser |

| I'm truly amazed in what world most of you seem to live in. I have been kind and the nice guy most of my life ― actually just until recently. People not only forget your kindness in the blink of an eye, they even come back and taunt you because of it... There is seriously nothing worse than being the "nice guy", or the "best friend, but not in that way". So don't be. Also, I'm not advocating violence here, but just being no gentleman at times, not helping some girl out of a car, not holding open the door, going in front of women etc., can actually pay off for the better and not the worse. All women will tell you they want a gentleman and whatnot. But none of it is true. In fact, you're shooting yourself in the foot when you obey these seemingly obvious rules... Except on planet Zordor5, where most of the users on this board seem to live :| Just saying get over that slut, she's chosen to be with the idiot guy and she's probably already laughing at you because of your caring. Her son doesn't care either and will surely not be a deciding factor there. cYa, Tauwasser |

| I did the first four files, here. I will update the file as I go. Those are very literal translations, not double checked for spelling and literally translated as I went through the files once from top to bottom. I don't how important or clear this is, but so far, the "master" referred to is always female. The text had one typo and reads pretty weird, which is why I kept the "The" in front of most things like Phaaze and stuff, because it reads the same in German. Almost as if this isn't written from a POV that actually knows these in-game words, so I guess this didn't even make it to the editor. cYa, Tauwasser |

Originally posted by Xkeeper That would be trivial. However, through how many text conversions has this piece of text been through? How many of those might have converted some of these codes to actual characters or stripped some of them? If we don't have anything else, we might do a mass replace. | If the board doesn't use UTF-8, then it's likely it stores all characters outside it's original code page as html entities. This is not desirable and should be changed... Other than that, there is really no reason to set your browser to one specific encoding, so don't follow Joe's advice. The encoding will be decided by whatever the page sends and by whatever content is on the page if it doesn't send its encoding (like this board for instance). If the board stored the character correctly in the database (and it seems to have done just so), then there is really nothing to worry about, as it already accepted input as UTF-8 or at the very least recognized that the codepoints are not part of its internal codepage and encoded them as html entities. Your character shows up fine, Aoi, so don't set your browser to anything else but Auto Detect. Also, the database size can heavily shrink when the encoding changes from ANSI to UTF-8 on boards with language-specific content like these. Right now, one Japanese ideograph æ¼¢ (two bytes) will be stored as 漢 (8 bytes). cYa, Tauwasser -------------------- |

Originally posted by Xkeeper Well, it has to translate the text to some format to store it, even if it's 1:1. Also, if you look at the source for this very page, you will see that most kanji here are represented as html entities. It displays fine in my browser, because it guesses the content to be UTF-8, so it's not "broken" per sé. If this page intends to be in a specific encoding, it would better declare it in the header. Edit, also if the database encoding is not UTF-8, one should expect it to try to represent input in the database's encoding and do something when it fails (such as making an html entity out of UTF-8 characters that are not subsumed in your ANSI codepage). It obviously stored mine and Aoi's kanjis as their UTF-8 byte sequences, obviously. Strange behavior, but might be linked to what encoding this input form is displayed as. You should maybe 1up that issue and convert the database properly and therefore save space. cYa, Tauwasser -------------------- |

The very fact that I input UTF-8 and the site output valid UTF-8 tells me something here is doing Unicode already, simple as that. cYa, Tauwasser -------------------- |
