... but it's not a Mac vs. PC debate here, it's whether or not his could run Hammer, and it could, easily, if it was working properly (apologies for earlier remark.)

... it's like ... if it's having problems, sell the damn thing, Macs have great resale value, put the money toward a PC.

To be honest there are some good non-casual games on the platform but not many. Apple's never really entered the gaming market and they are apparently unaware that a platform is only as good as the games it runs. On-screen controls work to an extent, but some games just suck at it (try the port of Sonic 1, and then try a game like Hero of Sparta or the port of Wolfenstein 3D - the latter two are way better.)

I liked the "pocket computer" angle a lot better.

I don't have the trilogy ... but I have Prime 3, and I'd get that behavior sometimes if there was a lot of wireless interference or a lot of light in the room. Sometimes, when holding the Wiimote sideways, I'll still have a cursor moving around on the screen from a reflection or something.

I wonder if they are counting all those apps that are actually in-game currencies that you have to actually purchase, for some RPGs and stuff. (Probably.) There can't be THAT many games on the platform that are truly games.

As for the earnings, well ... Apple is pretty good at making money. You never know. :|

For me ... actually, I like the Gamecube controller a lot. It just feels good, I guess, better than any others. The original PSX pad and the SNES controller are the runners-up, with the N64 controller in a distant fourth place.

Best year? Probably sometime way back before I even made it into the fifth grade; no real worries then. Other than school I was pretty much free to do whatever I wanted, but then in fifth grade the workload increased a lot as I was placed into some accelerated coursework. This would be 1998 or earlier I guess.

2004-2006 were pretty terrible for a wide variety of reasons ... a bunch of relatives I had been fond of died in that time, I nearly repeated my junior year of high school ... got a great summer job but then screwed it up horribly because of something stupid and trivial ... I declared myself atheist in this time and my family became pretty hostile from then on ... etc.

I had a Logitech Dual Action pad for a while, but eventually the joysticks went batshit and the controller became unusable.

I have a cheap Logitech Precision that suits me just fine; it's comparable to the original PS1 controller without the joysticks. Works great for anything.

For a while I was using a Dual Shock2 with an adapter but said adapter died. It still has a port for an N64 controller that *does* work, but I've not used it in a long time.

Why is employee training necessary every Monday. If it's going to be that in-depth every week, I am going to grow to hate Mondays even more than I do already.

I sold someone an MSI Wind though. Think they will be happy with it ... it was for like a 15-year-old girl who was tired of sharing someone else's laptop in order to tweet.

And now that I am home ... back to some more Unreal Tournament 3.

Oh man. I can't even beat the 1-on-1 with Jester in Insane mode.

In other news, a guy came in today with a machine he bought a week ago and complained that "Windows is too different. I can't do this." The most recent version of Windows he'd used before Vista was 3.11 apparently. Then he bought an iPod touch. I hope he realizes that it has a touchscreen, because we've had people who sit there and hit the button over and over and complain that nothing is happening (yes, people ARE that stupid.)

I found this image of Leigh to be really cute. I have considered either leaving it there forever, going back to the one where she is sticking out her tongue, or coming up with something else that could be a decent avatar, but I am not terribly great at avatar ideas. The obvious thing would be to use an image of a bagel but ... yeah, THAT would really be original.
