I'd like to investigate the watchtower... but it looks like I'm outvoted.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, my inbox is completely empty for the first time in almost a year!

I keep messages I still have to do something about in my inbox and archive (or rarely, delete) anything else. So an empty inbox means that every email I've received has been taken care of!

How do you organize your email? Are you a fan of the empty inbox, or do you just leave everything there?

Oh, how lovely it would be if NAT disappeared with the spread of IPv6.

Knowing American ISPs, though, they'll still probably try and charge for more than one IP per house just because they can.

Which is the cause of my recent absence from the internet; there's not much of it here.

Doing programming/network troubleshooting/stuff.

See you all in a few weeks.

Mac System 7, but purely for nostalgic reasons; it was my family's first computer.

It had a jigsaw puzzle. And ClarisWorks. And the bomb errors. Good times.

Mine was invented by BMF once on IRC, and since I was in the market for a new username at the time (BooUrns was a bit too common for my liking), I decided to go with it and see how I liked it.

[20:52:08] * BMF54123 changes Boo's name to OoBurns

Obviously, I liked it.

I seem to be in agreement with most everyone else here. Especially since you could get him very quickly: enter star world 2, wait a couple seconds for him to eat the power up, hop on, and start+select to exit the level.

I like fractals too.

Here's a 1920x1200 version, since I was curious to see how it would turn out.

I like OOP, but I don't often use it when coding in PHP. PHP's objects feel like they were tacked on to a scripting language as an afterthought (probably because they were). I will create classes in PHP if they'll obviously make things simpler, though.

Logic programming, on the other hand, is something I still haven't gotten the hang of.

That's where mine is on my desktop. It works nicely for fitting more windows in the taskbar and still being able to read the text in each, and since monitors are so wide these days, you can often afford to lose some horizontal real estate.

On my laptop, on the other hand, I put one panel at the bottom and none on the sides since its screen is only 1024px wide.

Taskbar on the left.

The day/night part of the background updates every 10 minutes; the cloud overlay updates every 3 hours.

I set up a scheduled task to download this cloud image every three hours, and Xplanet to generate a new image and update the wallpaper.

The only problem is that a command prompt window pops up briefly when it fetches a new cloud overlay. I haven't figured out how to hide that yet.

I've used a Kindle before and I think e-ink technology is fantastic for reading.

But for $400... much too expensive for me. Plus I try to avoid Sony products when at all possible...

It's nice that there's getting to be more competition in the e-reader market though; hopefully it will help drive down prices.

I've never seriously considered switching to dvorak. The supposed speed/ergonomic benefits have never seemed like they're worth the effort.

On the other hand, it would be amusing to see people's reactions when they borrow my computer...

Well, I read this thread title in my head as "Poll: Bang!"

In the context of grammar, I call it an exclamation point. In most other cases, I default to Bang.

Facebook I check every once in a while; that's about it.

I try to stay as far away from Twitter as I possibly can.

Posted on 09-16-10 01:43:35 PM, in Well this news woke me up real quick (AKA Chicago Mayor not seeking re-election) Link
Whoa. I suppose he had to step down sometime, but... a new mayor? He's always been the mayor! At least it seems that way, since he was elected shortly after I was born.

I can't speak firsthand for his mayoratorial skills since I'm from a suburb and not Chicago proper, but it seems to me that he did a pretty good job. Hopefully whoever's elected next will do a good job too.

Yahoo search is (at least in the US), powered by Bing, interestingly enough.
