"Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page."

I bet it's sound. A very specific song, in fact.

*OoBurns is glad he's missing the plugin. One time hearing that song was enough.

That 'only press forward' track is extremely impressive. I downloaded Nations a year or so ago but haven't played it in quite a while.

Perhaps I should open it up again sometime. The track editor is fun...

So tempting...

I'll have to think about it some more, though. Hopefully I'll finish deciding before it disappears.

If you install linux when vista's already there, you shouldn't have any problems nowadays.

Back when Vista first came out however...

Posted on 08-12-09 11:41:51 AM, in Microsoft ordered to stop selling Word Link
Story.

A judge has ordered Microsoft to stop selling Word due to (what else?) patent infringement. Apparently some company complained about Microsoft infringing on their patent for using XML in a certain way.

This will probably be overturned, of course, but it's still amusing.

(Try and overlook the fact that the article calls XML "essentially a programming language".)

# Engineers wrenching a teleporter will repair the other end as well, and remove Sappers from both if they exist.

With Engineer being my most-played class, this made my day. There's nothing more annoying that a spy sapping your teleporter entrance while you stand helpless far away.

On my desktop, games are usually the only things that get full-screen'd. I find myself using winkey+right and winkey+left a lot; it's handy for quickly making windows (especially text editors) tall but only half the screen width. (I also often keep terminals at the default width of 80 characters; I'm not really sure why. )

I maximize everything on my laptop, though, since it's only 1024x600.

Our first computer looked nearly identical to this.

It ran System 7. It had ClarisWorks 4. It was glorious.

Try booting XP in safe mode and note the last line of text that appears on the screen as it's loading the OS before it crashes. Sometimes if you Google something like "xp crash after loading file.sys", you'll find other people who have had the same problem and have (hopefully) figured out how to fix it.

I've been using it since the beta, and installed the final version several weeks ago. (Yay for MSDNAA!) I'm very impressed - I skipped Vista altogether (well, except when that was in Release Candidate status).

Still using the RC on my laptop though... I'll get around to upgrading it eventually.

WEll, this is exciting...

Kind of reminds me of the "broken backspace" thread.

Edit: apparently the only typo I made was due to my tendency to not release shift soon enough...

I've remapped my Caps Lock key to ESC, so I can't join in the fun without holding down SHIFT.

It does make using vim easier, though...

I had jury duty last summer. I was called with about 25 other people at one point into a courtroom, but I thankfully wasn't chosen from that group to sit on the jury.

Bring a laptop - it's a really long and boring day otherwise.

I'm going as 1/4 of a barbershop quartet.

We're not good, but it's still fun anyway. Halloween is just about the only time we dare sing in public.

Microsoft's Visual C++ might be what you're looking for. I haven't personally used the C++ version, but if it's anything like Visual C# (which I have used), it's dead simple to create a basic GUI and add your code to it.

The Express edition is free to anyone, and it's been more than adequate for the simple things I've been messing around with.

Desktop: Windows, because that's where I play games.

Laptop: Windows mostly, because I can scroll with a 2-finger swipe in Windows, but the Linux touchpad driver refuses to detect more than one finger at a time. I'll move to mostly Ubuntu once that's fixed, since bash is infinitely more powerful than the Windows CLI.

Also 2 machines running Ubuntu Server Edition, but I don't bother with them much since they generally behave themselves.
