It's still not enough, IMO. As long as politicians (and all public servicemen/women) are allowed, and encouraged to get more secrecy and privacy than citizens, they will continue to work only for their own bests interests. Anything they do that doesn't support it is just something they do to keep up the myth of their image. It's all marketing, and they're masters at the craft.
The only solution to this is absolute transparency, and I don't expect that to happen, but it's nice of Wikileaks to try.

Yeah, that's what the commercials are. There's also a bunch of mameshiba merchandise that my ex-girlfriend was smart enough to milk out of me. In retrospect, I should have bought them for me. :<

I'd say the fact that it's on the internet does change the perception of how it looks. Do remember, perception IS the most important thing, whether you like it or not. If you can sell your point of view to the majority, you've won.

In the case of Wikileaks, Assange wasn't in favor of the media or public. Wikileaks has lost at selling this to the media and public. He couldn't sell it to the media because they didn't profit from publishing details of Wikileaks as they would if they published the details themselves(and yes, I understand that "media" is very, very vague.). Failure to sell to the media means a failure to sell to the public, because they control all that people know of reality.

Deep Throat was a whistle-blower who gave critical details of corruption to a newspaper.
Assange is a reckless terrorist who stole top-secret documents.

It's already been applied to him, maybe permanently (possibly until several years from now, ala the USA founding fathers). The rape charges against him, whether they're false or not, only help to discredit him and the work that Wikileaks has done.

Winner: probably not Wikileaks, despite them doing one of the most important things in modern history. If they lose, so do we.

I think we can all agree that Bob Barker owns for boning so many of the TPIR women. This 60/70/80 year old guy macked on some of the finest young women a guy his age could dream of getting with. He probably wasn't neutered. Hypocrite.

See what I mean? Lack of responsibility and ... brainfarts like this happen. Cry.
Edit: Alternatively, I am a time traveler. Avoid Detroit on July 28. I warned you.

I think it's a very, very bad metaphor to use, especially in light of this tragedy, but this is really stretching it. There are so many details in the guy's life, the digging that's being done on this guy is getting weird. People want a scapegoat for the shootings and do their "due diligence" to figure out who/what's responsible.

They grab random tidbits about the guy and cluster them together (ohh it's because he was a marxist-nazi-pro-negro rights supporter (seriously people are speculating that because he liked some books that it made him murderous; come on, man!) that made him do it!!), saying they've found the cause, boiling it down to a single thing. In doing so, they aren't stopping to think that it's the sum total of what has gone on in his life, specific emotional circumstances he was under at the time, etc. that led him to his decision.

It's practically a 100% chance that what anyone will think of is spurious, because they just don't know, and likely can't know. They aren't him.

Hell, it's possible that even he doesn't really know. A lot of people do dumb, drastic, desperate things in times of disarray and look back in their life with regret and no understanding of what they were thinking. I'm not saying this absolves him at all, I'm just saying that no one really knows why some people do some things, even the person doing them.

For example, why did I make this post? I don't know, I felt like it? Hell yeah.

You should use brighter colors and large flashing GIFs. It'll get you a lot of fans. Your layout is your e-clothing and determines exactly how people will read you. Have you seen how popular I am? Ladies love me.

A few comments, and remember that I draw these based off of personal preference of layouts that I see and find ideal:

- Your text expands too far horizontally. To read your posts one has to move his/her eyes so much to read your post. Obviously, this varies by people's monitor and resolution, so there isn't much you can do about that. You could consider adding a bit of padding to the interior

- I think you need a little bit more spacing in the box. Your text brushes up against the borders which is uglyuglyugly! It's the lessser known, unsuccessful sequel to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. You don't want to be associated with that movie.

- I don't think the vertical bar with your contact information is very... useful or pretty. I understand that it gives you a bit more colors to break up the monotony of your layout, but they just seem very dissonant.

- Speaking of useless bars, what's with the one up top? If your layout box was attached to it it'd probably look neat, but it just stands alone, mysteriously.

- I like the way the background floats. Aesthetically, it's a GENIUS idea, especially considering what your background is.

Edit: Heh, you touched on my second point while I was typing the post. I still think it's not quiiiiite enough, though.

Eh, no. I'll leave it at that.

You're obviously just jealous. :smug:

Increased to 7 padding instead of just 5.

That's a lot better than what I remember seeing, so, ownin... though I still think the inner box would look better with a wider margin. Ideally, IMO, your text will line up around the planet's equator. It'd flow better that way!

You'll understand it more once I can show my design source.

(MRJ EDIT: I snipped a sentence because I misread you and responded to the misunderstanding. The sentence after this one still stands!) It doesn't look very good to me.

It'll probably look funky because I was lazy with the coding.

We're like sisters!

For this I have to give credit to Metal_Man88. He was the first one to use a large fixed background and the concept fit great with the subject matter.

Well sure it's not an original idea, but it's definitely the first time I've seen it used well. That is the key difference. No offense to Mr. Metal_Man88 but yours is probably better. I base this on having never seen what he did.

OK, I played with the colors on the sidebar lettering and I've gotta say it looks better with them being not quite so pure. Basically I just de-saturated them a bit and came up with this (note I didn't adjust the AAing on the text)

Having just looked at SMILE, there's only an RGB slider. No HSV slider means that it'd be detrimental for pixel artists who pick colors that way (which for experienced artists, is the more helpful method, since it corresponds to color theory).

Drag's method is still the same thing as DD's, it's just worded differently. I learned the same thing probably because that's how we all learned it, just using a different tool to make things click. For me, it was Drag's tool.
