I got a pipe set up in Castle Grounds that takes me to Snowman's Land, and I put the failure and success exits outside as well. However, while the pipe works, whenever I collect a star or die the screen simply goes black and I have to reset. How do I get the exits to work?

Wow, this is really cool... But, I have a couple of questions. One, obvious, one not so obvious. 1. Since this is an object importer, we would be making objects in programs such as blend3r, correct? 2. You say that we can only add 3d objects to custom levels, and that the new version will automatically replace Bob-Omb Battlefield with...Flatworld Battlefield, I'm assuming. Would there be any way to replace all of the levels with Flatworld Battlefield, so that every level can be customized?

My problem is with collecting a star in Snowman's Land. Let's say I'm doing act 1. I go and I get the star on top of the giant snowman's head. Mario does his little dance and the screen goes to black like normal. But then after that I have to reset because the game crashes.

Well, I managed to stop it from freezing just by switching up the destination IDs. Probably should've done that earlier, but oh well, I guess I got a little ahead of myself. Anyways, I still can't get the Success and Failure exits to work, I just changed the star exit destination in Snow Man's Land to the Mario Start one in Castle Grounds. Originally posted by VL-Tone What do you mean by that? I'm pretty new to this whole thing (I had the program before but then it broke and school started up again so I forgot about it), so could you explain what you're talking about? The Warp ID doesn't accept letters. Is that the behavior value you're talking about? And how do you access commands? |

Hey it worked! Thanks for all your help. I have a few more questions though: 1) How do you patch roms? (Mario 64 specifically). Is there a guide lying around for that? 2) Is there any way to make the original level portals (The paintings, the wall to snowman's land, etc) function as just part of the wall, and not as another entrance to the level?

To post a picture you need to go to a website like Imageshack.us and upload it there. Then scroll down to where it says direct link, and save the url it has there, and then use the [img][/img] tags

You know what would be awesome? If you could choose what instrument you want each track in a song to play. I know you could technically experiment by switching up the mml file, but that would take quite awhile. So, would a feature like that be in any way possible? Edit - Instead of being sorry for double posts, just edit your old one, please? -MM88 Actually, never mind, it's working now it's just a little choosy in that it'll convert some mml files but not others.

Does anyone here have a working download link to Messiaen's Platform Battlefield v0.4? (You know, the one where you can add platforms and blocks and stuff to make full levels)?

Whenever I patch a rom with base_patch_v01_flat, be it an unchanged one or a changed one, it says that the ROM is invalid. Do you have a readme lying around for this? And do I patch the rom with both patches, or just the flat one?

Hey Nickpop, I played your entire hack except for anything you might've done outside of Whomp's Fortress and Bob-Omb Battlefield. It was actually really good! I enjoyed it. However, there were some issues I noticed, and a nifty glitch that i noticed: In Platform Battlefield: - The cannon you have set up for the star up in the sky is facing the wrong direction. So I had to moon jump it. - I dunno if you were planning on making those grating walls walljumpable, because they're not. So I had to long jump from some random platform to get to the last red coin. - I dunno if I just never found it, but was there a warp to the slide star? Maybe I just missed it, I dunno. To get that one I long jumped from that green slide, which was an awesome slide. The brown one was a little boring because it was just a straight away. - I think in each of your levels (Bob-omb and Whomp's) you have one star where there are actually two where you can collect either for it to count. Was this on purpose? In Whomp's Fortress: - There weren't really any problems here, besides there being two stars that counted for the same star screen objective. - That tower you set up was really awesome, but it felt a little drawn out, in my opinion. - Also, I couldn't finish this level because you built your tower beyond the sky limit. So there were a couple more levels I had left to go until I'd have reached the star/boss/whatever was up there. - I don't know if this was just my issue, but after you reach the box with the red coin hidden behind it, the game slows down a lot, and by the time you're well into the tower it's practically going in slo-mo. It might be because you have too many objects in the level. Now, the nifty glitch. Chances are all of you already know this, but I didn't, so I thought it was cool: - When you have a grating set up vertically, if you're underneath it and you're lined up with it perfectly, Mario will grab onto it. If you press forward in the direction Mario if facing, he'll start to vertically climb the wall. You can kind of move left and right, but you have to do it while Mario is moving up and down. Overall it was pretty good. Now, onto Bob-ombs... I found no bugs ![]()

Ok cool it works. Thanks. But, is it supposed to...blow up Castle Grounds? Because whenever I patch a freshly extended ROM, Castle Grounds disappears and the doors inside of the castle simply lead to that empty box area behind it. And it doesn't work with already edited roms, right?

Originally posted by messiaen Cool, so you can change the instruments easier with the new version? That's good. Yeah, I've been using .2 and sometimes some songs just crash the rom. Not because there are too many instrument or anything, they just crash just because. |

Messiaen, I'm having a few problems with your patch. - Whenever I got downstairs the game will load it the first couple of times, but after that it'll just freeze. And sometimes the entire rom will freeze if I try to go anywhere beyond the file select screen and I'll have to delete the rom. - It also freezes when I go through the star door to the first bowser course. Also it freezes when I'm in the last bowser course. - There's a lot of slow down everywhere. Namely in the castle, but I haven't checked out the other levels all too much. -------------------- ![]()

Originally posted by Erika Well, you have to use midis, and vgmusic is the best place to get them. To make them yourself (through either an midi making programming or hex), for every track in the game, would take a very, very long time. Besides the Moo Moo Farms track, which is simply ok and not amazingly awesome, the rest of the songs I've seen work incredibly well. EDIT: Also, the steel drum as far as I know, is only in the Title Screen instrument set. So, unless if he's found a way to use the same set twice for different songs, he technically can't fix the Moo Moo Farms track because the Good Egg Galaxy song is using the title screen instrument set. --------------------
