That looks amazing! Super Mario land 2 is one of my favorite games ever. If you're interested, I've done extensive documentation of it. This hack is my work, and also a few other SML2 hacking videos on YouTube. I was the key data provider when MooJelly was under development and the SML2 overworld editor was a duo project between Treeki and I.
I've also figured out the overworld path format and some sprite tilemaps.

It warms my heart a lot to see someone interested in SML2 hacking these days. If you need any help at all, I will do my best to help you.

What I used for hacking was a private release of MarCas that supports editing object layout and warps. I've since lost it, but I'm sure someone has it..?

MooJelly was an ambitious project but the author did not test it enough, you're right about that. We really need an entirely new editor... I asked CoolToby to release the source code of MarCas way back then but he refused and said he was ashamed of his mess of a code.
CoolToby/Coolboyman might be the only one who still has the newest version but I have no idea how to contact him...

Oh? I always got mixed up with the names. Cooltoby, Coolman, Coolboyman, Koolman, ugh..!
I do remember he was a very nice person, though. The private release was the best SML2 editor I've used, and it was the very tool I used to create the hack I linked you to. I used a Hex editor and Treeki's OW editor to make this. In all honesty, I think that in order to make a full SML2 hack, one would only need Treeki's OW editor, a Hex editor, a tile editor and 'that' MarCas.
If someone can get a hold of him, please ask if he still has the editor. I want to wake my hack up too

iirc 'that' MarCas did have a warp editor but not map repoint. You could repoint them by hand, though. Also, no editor to date supports overworld paths and sprites but it is very possible by careful planning and a hex editor; I have personal notes and a demonstration (which i really should release )

While I agree that the troll instruction was indeed an evil trick,
-You might've fallen for this if you're young, naive, or got the image from someone you trust. I don't think the victims are here to blame.
-Microsoft shouldn't have made this possible, or at least made it reversible or offer some kind of consolation. I don't know if this is technically feasible, though.

never trust 4chan when it comes to advice or instructions. :/

A common misconception. I wholeheartedly feel that 4chan is one of the friendliest, informative and supportive communities I've been a part of. I've found countless like-minded anonymous people from small niche boards like /po/ which got me into papercraft /vr/ from where I've found several interesting new SNES games and /diy/ where I have found precious information regarding woodworking and lock picking. However, /b/ is something you should stay away from. After all, it is an 18+ board but that hardly protects the rest of the internet from its antics. It's easy to label 4chan as the root of all evil, but in all honesty, it's /b/ and only /b/.
Christopher Poole (4chan's founder) has a blog, you should check it out. This post was particularly interesting and should open up the man behind 4chan a bit. He's not evil and certainly would not approve of this.

my favorites are Jeroen Tel's SIDs and everything by Maktone.
I'm a purist, so I don't personally consider them 'chiptunes' but I still like OxygenStar's stuff a lot. Their album, "How to meet local hot women" is great!

Well, two things:
-A friend of mine who has pretty much exactly the same specs (OS, computer and Java) as I did, does not have the zoom bug
-I installed JDE, which forces the installation of JRE 1.7.0_45. Previously I had 1.6 something. This did not fix the issue

Apparently, a complete reinstallation of Java is not possible/wise.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and how I can continue. Searching 'Tile Molester and Mavericks' on Google brings this thread as the top result, so I guess if anyone else is having the same issue, they're welcome to ponder it in this thread.
The only solution I can think of, which is very far-fetched, is to someone review the tm source code and make a version with rewritten graphics displaying code and the fixes brought by the very recent unofficial version.

That looks stunning!!
Do you need help editing the overworld paths or do you know something I don't?

Regarding your music issue; I used to have a small document describing the music formats of Super Mario Land 1 and 2. It's long gone now though :C
My method was GBS corruption. Wish I still had it.

Hey man, you made the exhal toolset and now you're sleeping with it. It is your duty to create a level editor for every Kirby game.
Just kidding; that looks very interesting! Hope it evolves into something great!

Maybe Tropical Freeze went through a tedious development hell.

Kak64, your file selection screen appears to be broken. Also, this part had me thinking, does MarCas support scrollbox editing? I can't remember. Here's the part I'm talking about;

You aren't supposed to see the bottom gap. You can read my docs here. The scrollbox article should help.

As long as I remember, the ROM Hacking community has wanted this made so bad. Well done, devin. Well done!

I'm a mac user and couldn't compile the Dream Course editor so I doubt I can do anything with this either. But still, looks and sounds amazing and ambitious. Keep up the fantastic work!

I'm a Mac ROM hacker too!

Here's how to handle AW files, the ultra-beginner way:
step one: download Apple Developer Tools
step two: get dumpaw
step three: open Terminal (home > applications > utilities) and type in the following and hit Return:
gcc -o dumpaw
Now, as for the part where I used the , don't actually type the , but drag and drop the dumpaw.c file to the terminal window. Once you're done, check out your home folder. There should be a new file simply called 'dumpaw'
Open a new terminal window and drag the dumpaw there and an .aw file right after it. Hit Return and BAM something should happen.

I don't have any .aw files so I can't test this and don't know what it's supposed to do though.

Yes, Xcode, exactly. It's a big file but it's worth it in the long run because you can compile stuff in the future. And the is there on purpose to help you differentiate the parts where you don't actually type anything, but literally drag and drop the files.
I mean, you could type the actual path but I find it easier to just drag and drop.

Worth noting that you only need to actually open the Xcode application itself only once so you can accept the end-user license agreement. Once you've agreed to those, you can use the tools in the terminal and never touch Xcode again.
I also suppose you're running OSX 10.9.2. 'Mavericks'?

Nothing big yet I guess. Some dialogue, portrait-oriented pause menu and the ending is what's still left.

Keep up the good work!
What are you making the editor with, by the way?

All of the unused enemies found in the SNES version of Umihara Kawase are included both in the DS and the fresh PC port of the game.
I can't confirm if they're fully functional in anything but the SNES game but at least the graphics are still there.

There's something in Pocky & Rocky, I just don't know how to access it.

I also found that many cheat sites list the Level Select cheat as "At the Player Select screen, hold X + Y and press B, B, B, B, A, A, A, A, B, B, B, B, A, B, A, B, A, B, A, B, Start" but after looking into the ROM, the real cheat is actually A, A, A, A, B, B, B, B, A, B, A, B, A, B, A, B.
