I am becoming very fond of making baked mac and cheese. Better than last time; best I've ever had [/humblebrag]

Ground floor apartment~ It's cool in the summer so that's a plus, although I would like more sunlight...

Seattle’s pretty good btw, i live there & recommend it to everyone who wants to move here.

I kind of want to move to Guangzhou. I really liked it when I visited, and the food was great. But instead, the years keep passing really quickly and I'm still here in Virginia...

Today I made Japanese curry with beef and now I feel bad for not making it earlier. It was so good

I also need to eat beef more often. This was the first time in months...

I've heard of it but I don't think it's for me... I don't use Twitter or Facebook. I just don't use social media much in general (except for reddit, but even then that's only to read up on stuff).

Yup, I also sleep on my side primarily and need to hug a pillow. I don't ever check my phone at night though unless someone is calling. In fact, for the longest time I used to have my phone off at night. I only started leaving it on because I'm on call for sysadmin stuff (but there's almost never anything going on anyway...)

Most importantly perhaps is I need some white noise. That's why I have a fan in my room. I turn it on even in the coldest days of winter

I really hate where I am now because of the traffic. Please can I live on the countryside and hear the crickets instead... ;v;

I can sleep easily with no sound as well. I need the white noise of a fan because I live in an urban area where there will always be other noises during the night. White noise at least covers all other noises so that footsteps upstairs or cars outside won't keep me from falling asleep.

Sort of! I'll play Stickerbrush Symphony and close my eyes and take deep breaths when I'm stressed or want to calm down. It helps me a lot. A few other songs do it too, but that's just the one I use most commonly (especially some remixes of it).

I'd say it's more of a calming ritual than actual meditation though. I have others too, like closing my eyes and covering my ears in the shower (makes it feel like I'm out in the rain). Also if we're getting heavy rain (which is very rare here...) I'll turn off all sound distractions and just listen to the rain.

That is one big thing I like about forums. Being able to contribute to conversations at a slower pace. Not feeling like I have to be responding to people right away. Reddit is so fast and threads die so quickly that sometimes I only find out about a neat thread a day later and it's too late to really join in.

I bought a bottle of that "Naked" brand mango juice and that's what I'm drinking right now. It's really hard to find good mango juice here in the US ... at least this one tastes good, even if the price is steep $6 for 64oz...)

Posted on 01-21-18 11:27:58 PM, in Cleaning is such a chore Link
I don't have a lot of things, so it's hard to have the apartment be messy, actually. I also have a very strict "no clothes/other junk on the floor" obsession which makes it fairly hard to be messy Because of that, I don't need to clean the apartment to keep it clean because I naturally don't make it messy.... I do still have to do the dishes though, and that sucks...

For some reason I like to collect hardcover video game guides for games I like ... Not a good habit, since they're so bulky and now I probably have to move :/

I guess I'm good at learning languages. I like learning languages so I do that ... In addition to English I'm also fluent in Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin). I can also converse in French, Italian, German, and to a lesser extent Japanese.

Nope, too active now, can't keep up with everyone.

This is neat though, it's been a while since we had so many people posting. Maybe social media is dying and people are returning to forums lol

Posted on 01-22-18 11:07:51 PM, in what feature would you most like to see Link
BUMP~

With the increased activity, if it holds up, I think a useful feature would be to send someone a PM when they are quoted by someone else on a thread. This could be opt in or opt out.

I implemented this on a Drupal forum I made by making it possible to mention users with the pattern @UserName. This not only allows people to mention others and have them know about it, but also means you can replace "Originally posted by FieryIce" with "Originally posted by @FieryIce" to tie in PM-on-quotes with the mentions system.

I imagine this would help a lot to encourage people to continue conversations with other users without having to check all the previous threads they posted in to see if anyone replied.

Bonus points if @Mentions are linked to the mentioned user's profile and get the username's color, too. Example of what I mean: https://i.imgur.com/llydjPV.png
