I had quiche with broccoli and mushrooms, potatoes, and carrots for dinner. It was pretty good ... any egg-based dish rocks.

No pictures though ... I feel embarrassed taking a picture of my food in the dining hall ._.

There are two things on my mind ... I'm wondering why my Chinese handwriting looks neater than my English handwriting. And I also think that this burst of activity of mine is directly related to work I'm procrastinating.

I usually shave mine clean but for certain reasons I am now going to leave it at stubble. It grows really quickly so I have to maintain it often.

Haha, maybe it would inspire people to give it a try, Reimu.

Bloodstar, as of Nov 8: "The developers of ZC have released RC5 which features some improvements and bug fixes. The final and official 2.5 release is scheduled to be out by the end of the year. This is the time to test out RC5 and make sure to get bug reports to the devs so that 2.5 comes out as problem free as possible."

They're really almost done, with 5 release candidates done so far.

That must suck :/ My stubble becomes somewhat visible by the second day but sometimes I can get away with it until the 3rd day. Also, I remember reading people who grow a lot of facial hair are more prone to go bald early. *panics*

Shaving every day isn't really a bother. Missing a spot, on the other hand...

I still grow facial hair fairly quickly, at least compared to people who barely grow anything. The guy I'm dating can't grow a beard at all, and he's 25.

Going bald is my worst nightmare, so yeah.

I never thought it was a pain to use ... what in particular did you find cumbersome, Colin? There were a couple things that I wish were handled better (mostly relating to graphics / tilesets / layers) but in general I found it pretty easy to use. I haven't used it in so long though, I'd have to readjust if I do decide to make stuff with 2.5 once it's released.

I'm probably off base here... but how proficient are you at it? You may be just trying a little harder with it, whereas with English you probably just feel comfortable enough to not really care. (at least, I'd imagine this may be the case with me in such a situation - only other language I know much of is Spanish and that uses largely the same alphabet)

That's basically it, yeah! I noticed it I do take the effort to get all the strokes accurately and I guess that's all the effort it takes for it to look neat. Basically, when writing Chinese I emphasize clarity, when writing English I emphasize speed.

I would post a picture ... but what I've been writing is my diary and I'm kinda too paranoid that a Chinese speaking person will read it (personal things in there!) ._.

Yup! I need to practice handwriting the characters a lot because learning to read them is totally different from knowing how to write them off the top of your head.

As for not forgetting them, it shouldn't be a problem

Reading has become pretty "natural" for me (I can read about 1000-1200 characters).

Well, since I can't post a picture of my diary for paranoia reasons, here is a picture of my Chinese homework for today. It was done in haste so the writing is sloppier than usual, but still looks nice IMO:

Homework's getting tough ... one of the translation exercises was to translate "All immigrant families, during their first few years in a foreign country, will experience greater or lesser psychological conflicts that arise from heavy social burdens."

Thanks! The underline-looking things are supposed to be underlines - but if you just make a single line then it could confuse people so I shape it in a way that it doesn't get mistaken for part of the characters. The purpose is to point out my use of vocabulary words from the book for the professor. For this reason, periods and commas in Chinese are also different (they're bigger ... a period is a small circle instead of a dot)

I have been getting a pretty serious case of dandruff recently ... I'm not sure if it's the dry weather or what but it's becoming absurdly annoying. Actually, it might be the weather since I remember this happening last winter.... Bah.

Slow news day, perhaps, but I think there's something that can be discussed here. This is a non-English song playing everywhere in the US. I can't think of a time I've heard a non-English song playing so prominently in the US (except perhaps Spanish and even then I can't think of a good example). With the economic rise of China, how long until we start seeing Chinese songs and movies become popular in the US? And India and Brazil?
