I actually like the music on Sonic 4, and some of music might be okay in the later sonic games, but to me they don't have that "Sonic" feel to them, and most of the time it's either too perky and cheesy for me, or it just fade sinto the background. I'm thinking in particular of the Sonic Adventure games. Some songs are good sure, and the games are enjoyable. I even rock out in the car to some songs from the Sonic Adventure games and Shadow the Hedgehog, but then you have crap like Knuckles raps and songs about flying high and rainbows and shit. When I think 'Awesome Sonic Music" I think the theme from Panic Puppet Zone act 2, or the theme from Collision Chaos, or pretty much anything from Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I want to think of speed, and saving the world from machines in the most bad ass way possible. My favorite stuff sounds dark and like shit is at stake.

My main complaint with most modern game soundtracks (which admittedly my exposure is probably not as much as most people here) is that even if the music is good, it's quite forgettable. Most stuff seems to throw everything in the world in there including a full blown orchestra, but in the end, there's no hummable tune or anything that has a good beat to it. Take Super Paper Mario. The soundtrack for that game is highly complex, and yes it's good, but there is only one song in the entire game that stands out to me and that is this one. It has a good beat, a clear melody I can hum all day, and its darker and sounds kick ass. Even in Super Mario Galaxy, I don't think there is anything in there I can hum unless it's a remix of an old song.

I guess you can just say I prefer 16-bit era music as far as games are concerned. Modern games, even if the soundtracks are phenomenal, just don't have that same charm to me.

See I never cared for that one. That's just another song that's forgotten and fades into the background for me. I much preferred the song from the rest of Castle Bleck, and really that's just because when you get down to it, it's just an overly complicated remix of the original underground theme, but it's done well and captures the tone of what's going on. Good for that level, not memorable outside of the game.

As for Sonic colors, I'm pretty liberal when it comes to newer Sonic Games, so unless they do something to completely ruin this (like god awful controls) I'm probably really going to enjoy this.

Oh yeah, I do agree with this! I like to be surprised by the music, and first hear it alongside it's intended imagery. But yeah, everyone is going to have a different opinion when it comes to what music is "good" or not. It's just a matter of personal taste.

I've always had an interest in "Magic Eye" pictures. You know, stuff like this:

I'm REALLY good at seeing these though, to the point where I'll use the Magic Eye technique in real life when I'm bored on anything with symmetry. This can be floor tiles, ceiling patterns, curtains, you name it, though obviously there's no hidden picture in those. I can do it without thinking. It's like crossing your eyes, but backwards. I even still have a Magic Eye VHS that taught me how to do it, and I still watch it from time to time to relax. I also think its weird that when crossing your eyes normal, you can overlap things that are a great distance apart, but when doing magic eye, your range is much more limited. Sometimes I try to see how far I can stretch my range.

Posted on 10-24-10 12:15:16 AM, in Feeling a little lonely Link
Every now and then I have these boughts of loneliness where I just really feel like I need affection. This usually spurs me into a downward spiral of self-loathing and hatred of humanity and the world for it's unfairness once I realize that I'll probably never receive that affection. Then I get depressed for a while over how likely it is that not only will I never find anyone, but anyone who's ever gotten remotely close has ran for the hills. It's one thing to be rejected, but to constantly be rejected, and to know that it was always for who I truly was, "wears on you" to say the least. It's like I'm stuck in this cycle of one-sided attraction and unfair rejection that doesn't even make sense, and I can't escape it no matter how hard I try or how much I try to avoid past mistakes.

I've dealt with these feelings all of my life, but this past week I've kind of been in a low where I can't stop thinking about them. I wrote this poem without even thinking about it because apparently, it's been that active in my subconscious thoughts:

In my mind I see you reaching out for me
inviting me into your warm embrace
why can I never touch you?
why do you always fade away?
Will you ever be true?
Or will you always be a fantasy?
An illusive memory?
Or a passing thought?

Someone to love me for me
Is it so much to ask?
On a night like this, I want nothing more
And my heart cries out in desperation
Someone to share this beauty with
something real and true
Someone who will understand
How can all of this emotion stay bottled up forever?

Maybe the timing wasn't right
Maybe I never had the courage to ask
Maybe all the ones I chose were never blessed
Maybe I was born cursed
Maybe I'm a sideshow freak
Maybe I'm incurably ill and dying

It makes no sense!
How can we ever exist?
When I long for you the same as I long for my own solitude?
How are we to ever meet?

What happens when my optimistic lies
no longer satisfy my human desires?
I feel it slipping already.

I'm punished for the crime of being human.
My needs are never satisfied,
and I'm shunned for thinking that they ever should.

Anyway, I could be on here all day talking about the "depths of my despair," but I'll just dig myself further into an emotional hole by doing that. I actually cried myself to sleep one night thinking about it. I don't know, I just feel like I'm at the point where something has got to give, but knowing this usual cycle, I'll be back to normal in a few days once I've found a sufficient "distraction."

And I know no matter what I'll be "okay." I'm not really depressed or anything major, and I'm still perfectly capable of enjoying life. But this is like a personal demon of mine that I continually face, and lately it's really been forcing itself into the open. You could say it's the darkest part of my psyche and I've never really found a way to truly deal with it.

I'm not even really expecting anything from this thread. It's just that I've noticed that sometimes it helps to write crap down and get it off of your chest, so why the hell not?

Aw, thanks Nelrith You remind me of myself too, probably because we seem to have similar issues to deal with. I'm glad I was able to help you out a little. I think I need to hang out with my friends more so I can remind myself that I AM actually cared about. It's just that right now they're all busy, so that just gives this crap more of an opportunity to grow. This isn't exactly the type of topic I feel comfortable discussing with my family, and even with my friends, I'm usually very indirect about it, and I only talk about it with people I feel can at least somewhat understand. I guess I need to try and open up more, but part of why I don't do that is because of this underlying fear that somehow opening up will scare away everyone I've ever cared about enough to open up to. But yeah, it does help to get some of this crap out even if it is only on here. Thanks for being there guys!

I haven't had much experience with bathroom graffiti, (mostly because I tend to avoid public restrooms like the plague,) but we did have an interesting incident at work once. One of our employees went to clean the bathroom and noticed that all of the plumbing had been stolen Apparently, the price of scrap metal was high that week because some guy went down our entire street with a backpack stealing as many pipes as he could from every bathroom he could find! Kind of sucked for us, but that was the funniest thing ever!

Incidentally, Santana's Smooth has always been a "green" song for me, and I'm pretty sure it's due to that video despite the video's color scheme being predominantly red. When I hear this song, the green things from that video stick out in my head for some reason.

I cannot remember the name for the life of me. Just...plain little circular cookies with a chocolate filling. They were phenomenal, and I was probably only maybe four years old the last time I remember having them. Damn.

Are you talking about Sweet Spots? They were plain round vanilla cookies that had something like a Hershey's kiss in the center, only the chocolate was way better.

As for food that I miss, there are plenty of foods that I loved as a kid that they no longer make, but there's nothing I can think of off hand that I REALLY miss. I mean, if they came out on the market again, I'd buy them in a heartbeat for the sake of nostalgia, but I doubt I'd like any of them now as much as I did as a kid. These things include, Sweet Spots, Fun Feast tv dinners, Orange Squeeze-its (none of that kool-aid crap), Hearty Pockets, and Pizza Lunchables. I'd also try Crystal Pepsi if they ever brought it back just because my curiosity has recently been piqued.

Also, for everybody who misses any type of vanilla flavored soda, just buy the closest thing you can get on the market and add a little imitation vanilla extract to it. 90% of the time, it tastes exactly the same.

I was never a fan of the Santa Fe flavor. I still get baja every now and then though. What I really miss from Taco Bell was the 7-layer crunch wrap. Don't know what was in that thing, but it was good! The regular crunch wrap just tastes like bleh to me. Also I hate how their nachos have practically nothing on them now when they used to have like 7 toppings.
