So, long story short, I've come to the conclusion that the onboard realtek hd audio I've been using has gone kaput. So, I'm shopping around for a new soundcard, but I know next to nothing about them.

This one looks frickin awesome, but I'm not sure I can justify myself spending $180 on a soundcard.

I'm somewhat of an audiophile, so the most important thing for me would be sound quality, the higher the better, though it doesn't unnecessarily have to be at an insane level. I'd like to get something good around the $100 range. I'm not really into gaming outside of emulation so that's not a priority. I'll mainly use it for movies and music. Ease of driver installation and use is also important. I've been hearing bad things about most creative cards in regards to that, but then again, I've only just started to research.

I'll be using Logitech 5.1 analog speakers, though I may eventually get a digital set. So I'll need a card that supports that. I'll be using windows XP as long as I possibly can so vista compatibility isn't a huge issue for me right now, though I do want something that will last me a good while.

Any suggestions?

Lord of the Rings Trilogy plus The Hobbit, The Simarillion, Unfinished Tales, The Children Of Hurin, and anything Else written by J.R.R. Tolkien that directly ties in with Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, the Inheritance Trilogy (i.e Eragon, Eldest), Chronicles Of Narnia. More or less in that order. I need to get around to reading Star Wars.

I know I'll be in the minority but,

DS9 > TNG > VOY > ENT > TOS

Downloaded all of them, currently watching voyager more than the others. Thanks to Spike TV I've now seen TNG so many times, I'm surprised I don't have every episode memorized by now.

That's another reason why I'm looking at more expensive cards. I intend to do a lot of recording through my line in port. It was actually while recording a cassette through my line-in port that my on board audio died on me. I'm still not sure exactly what I could have done to completely fry it, but for whatever reason it is completely dead now.

I have some odd sleeping habits. Depending on the situation, I can still sleep under any conditions, but I still have to try my best to simulate the things below.

I'm one of the people who need to sleep with a comforter too, but I'm very particular about what type of comforter. If its too thick, too big, or not the right material I just use sheets instead. It is for that reason I have been using the same comforter I had since I was ten even though its completely falling apart by now. I also need to have something like a body pillow on one or either side of me while I sleep. However, it can't actually be a body pillow. Usually I use a bunch of sheets that are rolled up in sort of a body pillow shape. For some reason I need to be able to control the shape of whatever I'm sleeping with. I can't stand sleeping on a completely flat surface.

I also need to have the room pitch black with the exception of natural lighting, but more than that I need to have it silent. I can't leave the computer on or it will drive me nuts even though its just background noise and most background noise doesn't bother me. The sound of the air conditioning and even thunderstorms I find soothing. In some cases I can even have a space heater on in my room and it won't bother me at all, but the computer, tv, music, or if anyone else is still awake making noise, and sleep is futile. Oh yeah, that's usually why I'm always the last person to go to bed too. If I'm not, whoever is still up will keep me awake. That and its very difficult for me to fall asleep before midnight even if I'm insanely tired and know I have to get up at 4am the next day. Most of the time I'll feel better with just 4 hours of sleep than if I had gotten 10 or so anyway.

At one time my dad had to use a very loud breathing machine, and we all got so used to it that no one in the house could sleep if it wasn't turned on. He still uses a breathing machine, but its quiet now so now it don't matter either way.

Most importantly, I have to have the room pretty cold. If its too hot there is no way I'm getting to sleep and I'll constantly wake up during the night. However, I can't have the fan on any higher than low or it will bug me too. Also, my pajamas have to be very thin or I will get too hot, and they have to be very loose. The room has to be cold enough where I can wear loose pajama pants and not get too hot. Sometimes I just won't wear pajama pants at all, but I'm never as comfortable that way.

The only way I can sleep in regular clothes is if I am insanely tired to the point where I can't even bother myself to change. But in either case I can't stand wearing socks while I'm asleep. I'll wear socks constantly all day, but I can't stand them in bed.

I also need to eat right before I go to bed. I can't sleep on an empty stomach. Kind of a bad habit since often times I'll either fall asleep before I can finish my food and end up wasting what I could have stuck back in the fridge, or I'll fall asleep before I can brush my teeth and then my mouth feels nasty when I wake up.

Same here, but then i started to really stare at it. The circle starts to look like a sphere, it looks like its moving, and it seems to fade between being black, white, and gray. Its pretty cool. Reminds me of how sometimes if I stare up at a moving ceiling fan, it can look like the entire ceiling is moving around the fan.

Well, if you had the money, I'd suggest seeing one of the Cirque shows they have down there. The Vegas shows are supposed to be incredible compared to their touring shows, and their touring shows are already phenomenal. Unfortunately the price is just as incredible too, or I'd plan a trip to Vegas just to see one.

I work in fast food. Actually wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the shear stupidity you have to deal with every freakin' day. I work in the back, so at least I'm spared from most of the customer stupidity, but I tell you, having to work with total idiots is no fun. Well, actually no. I do have fun messing with them, but still irritating as hell! High turn over is good because usually, the people I have a problem with are out the door in a week anyway, but right now I really can't stand anyone I work with.

I have to share a few things from today. First of all, there's this guy who has been there for about a week, has a major attitude, and keeps showing up an hour and a half late for work. He doesn't seem to be able to count any higher than two seeing as how whenever we have more than two sandwiches to make, he conveniently forgets to make them. And whenever I try to train him at all he acts uninterested and never pays any attention to anything.

Well he was supposed to be training another new guy on dishes today when he barely knows how to do them himself. That was fun enough to listen to, but what made my day was when I took back a pan full of hot bacon grease that had just come out of the oven. Now, the thing has steam rising from it, I'm carrying it back with oven mits on, not to mention you can hear the water steam when I set the thing in the sink. Dead give away that the thing is hot right? well a few minutes later, what do I hear? OW! OMG! *sound of hot pan crashing to the floor. I walked by there and he says to me "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THAT DAMN SHIT WAS HOT?!" I told that I guess he should start paying more attention to things at work then.

That's not the best thing about today though, this isn't really anything to bitch about, it's just damn funny. A co-worker went to clean the bathrooms when she discovered that all the pipes in the men's restroom had been stolen! It had to have happened while we were busy too seeing as how they were fine this morning. That was the funniest thing ever!

My boss bought some milk from a BP next door for us to use for soup that day, and when we poured it, it may as well have been cottage cheese. He went "EWW! Don't buy milk from BP!" and I instantly thought of Xkeeper's Kmart old milk gag. Especially since we also have a Kmart across the street.

Move one hand so it's hanging off of the side of the bed.

Fill this hand with shaving cream.

Tickle his nose.

He'll certainly be motivated to get out of bed to clean his face off

I ended up going ahead and buying the Razer a while back, and it is awesome! It is absolutely perfect for everything I need to use it for. I also ended up finding it a little cheaper, I think around $160, so I am very happy with it.

Damn I missed it! Oh well, I might just wait a while and watch a bunch of episodes in one chunk instead of waiting each week, or a month, or whenever the heck they decide to air these things. Great show! But the schedule is always so sporadic for it.
