I'm currently working on a SM64 full new game called "Super Mario 64: NES Flipped". Right now, I'm just setting it all up so i can make the levels. I will soon post a demo video of the first level. The complete game will contain 5 short levels (including outside and underground stages) and a boss. Once you have defeated the boss, you will gain access to a secret room. Here is a screenshot for now:

I haven't done any Super Mario 64 hacking for quite some time, but i;m very tempted to get back into it considering how much i love making video game hacks. But perhaps i should wait until the polygon importer is released.

Here's something a bit random i did while I've been gone... I ripped the wrl from the first level of Bomberman 64 and imported it into my FPS (After about 3 days of guesswork <.<). It also has music, by the way, but you obviously can't hear that coming from a picture. I'll be uploading a video on youtube once i've done more.

Anyway, now that i know blender fairly well, i can start making my own models ready for when the SM64 obj importer is released, as well as ripping them.

I've started working on a new complete mod of SM64. It will contain plenty new levels, all with the usual 7 stars, custom music, textures and plenty other minor hacks. I've been hunting around through the hacking notes and whatnot, so i have a good idea what im doing. I just have one problem: I can't use Doogie's level copier on bob to other levels because they're all too small, and i don't know how to hex it. Know how?

Wow, that looks great! It was bound to happen though, with a hack as good as yours . People really seem to like making Super Mario 64 bots.
Also, i posted a couple of OBJ imports i made with your OBJ Importer.

I'm not completely sure what you mean, but i used Blender to import, edit, and export the WRL. I used Lemmy's 3D plugin to rip the model of the level first.

Super Mario 64 - Star Road




Super Mario 64- Star Road

In this video I show you a preview of a level which will be in my major Mario 64 hack. The hack will be called "Super Mario 64 - Star Road", and will contain 6 main levels and various secret ones. In the video, i collect the red coin star, from a level which is yet to be named. The music in this level will be custom once finished, as will all music in the game.

More previews and possibly a downloadable beta are soon to come.

Heres a quick pic of the view from the main hub . If you hadn't guessed, the main hub is Star Road. Basically just a smallish area with pipes to different levels. There will be plenty of scenery, though.

By changing the object banks which are loaded, it is possible to overwrite castle grounds without it freezing. But when opened in tt64, castle grounds turns into a black screen after a few seconds. And Mario's spawn is in the corner of the level.

Is it possible to re-direct castle grounds to a different level? That way, i can overwrite, for example, the secret slide with the hub and have castle grounds instantly take you there.

By the way, Messiaen, i replied to your comment about the black screen glitch.

I have tried and tried, but i just can't seem to get DS Download play working. I am using a blue ds phat, and a pink ds lite. Ill explain exactly what happens:

1. I open up my (U) NSMB rom in NSMBE and add a single pipe to MvsL field stage
2. I save, then extract the J1 and it's BG data, as well as the field narc
3. I open up the narc in narc explorer, then replace the J1 and BG with the ones i extracted
4. I open NSMBE again and replace the field narc with the one i edited
5. I put the rom and the firmware in a folder on my AK2i
6. I start up the pink dsL and load the firmware, then choose ds download play
7. I take out the AK2i, then put it in the blue ds phat.
8. I start up my edited rom, then choose MvsL. I play as mario.
9. I start the download on the dsL
10. The Nintendo log appears, dissapears, then i have a pure white screen on the top and bottom

If you know what i am doing wrong, please tell me .

That's unusual. Did you turn ds download play on in the settings? The default is usually disabled. Btw what version of NSMBe do you use? DSi to DSi works, DSi to DS lite works, and DS lite to DSi works with download play.


There are different versions of NSMBe? What do you mean? All i find are the earlier versions and an unreleased one.

Could somone try sending me a patch for NSMB with a level that works on your ds, and i'll see if it works on mine?

Nope, doesn't work. Mayby i should try downloading an nds of the v5 (pink) firmware and running it on my ds phat. Do you know where i can get this?

I found that i can move objects as much as i like, though, and download play will work. Perhaps this helps.

I am under the opinion now that my ds phat's firmware just doesn't work for MvsL hacking. But before i go buying a new DSL off ebay, i just want to make sure i am doing the adsact same things as you.

1. You are using rom 0434?
2. You put the acekard into the dsL, load up NSMB hack, and download with the ds phat?
3. What version of NSMBe are you using? I have tried various versions, including a beta, which don't work.
4. Do you have the rom in the root directory of your card?

Since you are using pink and pink, i will also try dumping the v5 firmware off my DSL, converting it to nds, and loading it on my ds phat.

I have read your post, but it doesn't seem like much of a tutorial to me. I can see that there is alot of free space in the rom, but i wouldn't know where to begin when it comes to hexing a level into it. What file do i hex in? What do i change further up in the rom? What is the very first thing i must do? Please, if you have the time, mayby you could explain it propperly, step by step.
