...I'd head-desk right now, but I'm concerned the velocity in which I'd do so would send the desk rocketing through the floor ![]() |

| Does anyone remember this event? What it is, is its basically a gaming-based charity. On October 15th, participating gamers will be attempting to play 24 hours of video games in order to raise money for local children's hospitals of their choosing. I participated last year (as I believe did a few others here) and was quite pleased with the results. While this year, several friends and I have already formed a team of our own, I am coming to you all to raise awareness of this really great event. It was a total blast for me last year, and I think several people even watched the madness on Stickam the entire time! (I will be broadcasting this year as well) ... while last year I made it a point to purposely play some of the worst, weirdest or most frustrating games I could think of (solely based on the fact that it would be amusing for the viewers), this year will probably be more of a free-for-all and possibly even see more multiplayer presence as I will be having at the very least two others participating with me at my place. For west coast JUL-ers, of course this means an open door policy for the event so long as you just give me a heads up. Hell, if you're interested, come on down and we could all do it together! of course, inevitably, I should probably say that my personal donation page can be found here. Now for those not in the know so much about how this works, donations are of course 100% optional, 100% tax deductible, and 100% put towards local children's hospitals (in my case, I will be playing on behalf of Los Angeles Children's hospital) ... every amount helps, no matter how small, and I've set a personal goal this year of $500 (a full $300 higher than my goal last year...a goal I hope to surpass!) I realize October is a few months away, but I wanted to raise awareness for this now, especially in case others wish to participate as well! |

I think you misunderstood then, too, because he wasn't doing that xD he was teaching -me- how to do it but at the time it was very...hush hush. lolgod remmeber when rom hacking was like this. there's ways to do it now that don't involve injecting a custom hex-edited SPC, however its going the way of ExGfx in that everyone and their dog does it now but only a few a worth listening to ![]() |

Yeah, but you also listed "i" which technically only exists to represent a theoretical number which could not exist under regular circumstances ![]() |

Cheating is the one thing that makes those games absolutely no fun. With all of the items, techniques, and other such things programmed in to the damn game, there is absolutely no reason why anyone cannot simply put in the time to get the EVs and IVs they want. Anything in life worth having is worth working hard for, and the same should apply to video games. If its too much effort, then don't play the game, especially when it applies to an extraneous feature such as this which doesn't affect one's enjoyment of the metagame |

| there needs to be a law in cases like this that can turn it around on the plantiff on the grounds that they're complete fucking morons. also that card was sweet, that son should go fuck himself and be glad he has a mother who takes time out of her day to think about him. people don't even know how good they have it. |

| s'what I'm getting at. I have wonderful parents, but know far too many friends who do not and have suffered emotional and physical abuse. As such, these spoiled ass-droppings need to be punished the old fashioned way with a good hard spanking. using construction equipment. |

Originally posted by Karis your entire point though is somewhat invalidated by the fact that all these elements are completely optional, and designed only for people who WANT to put in the extra effort. Yes, believe it or not, there are people with different opinions who may actually enjoy doing all this stuff. If anything, it adds a touch of reality to the games, and gives you a sense of accomplishment for setting a really challenging goal for yourself to achieve. Honestly, you can still enjoy the games for what they are without ever regarding any of these aspect. I know I did for well over ten years. No one is forcing you to pay any mind to them, and the games themselves are still playable. Anyone who complains about level grinding probably just hates RPGs in general, because honestly, I've never played a single one where I didn't have to do the exact same thing. Tenfold if the game was an earlier Squaresoft title, dear god. Sure, you can say they implement new and unique ways of doing it, but when it comes down to it, level grinding is level grinding. Pokemon is not the first game with it, and it won't be the last, so it really bothers me when people issue that as one of the major complaints about the game. I mean, really, what possible better solution is there that wouldn't apply to every single other RPG in existence? |

| as far as cheating in games go, I only do as little as I have to. For example, i was never able to attend the event to get Deoxys in Gen. 3 and as a result, hacked only the item I would have received from that event in my inventory. I caught the Deoxys legitimately. I did not cheat for Lugia/Ho-Oh as there are other methods of obtaining them. |
