I call it Super Mario 128. *groan*
It's designed to be a very hard, very puzzling platform game. Savestates are not encouraged, but it's understandable to use them.
4 full levels and every secret stage (excluding Rainbow Clouds and Bowser 3) are finished in this mod, but only 17 stars (spanning 6 levels + overworld) are obtainable without cheating in this release. (I want to preserve the sequence of events in the game as releases come out)
Screens:

(All of these are taken from accessible levels)
These screenshots really don't do the game justice- I don't want to spoil puzzles for people. Again, this is designed to be difficult. The storyline is meant to be humorous, but I'm no comedian.

The PPF patch: http://www.mediafire.com/?93cvnxoym9l

It's a hard hack, definitely. But, very good for your first one. Keep it up.

I'm making a Super Mario 64 bloopers series called, New Super Mario 64. And I've decided to use Toad's Tool to make it unique. I think this would be considered as a hack, but not released to the public. I'm posting this here because, I want to ask you people about some things. So, first off:

I want to make a "High Resolution" Mario. This is how he looks:

He looks a lot better in game, but that is how he would look on a YouTube video.
So, did I make a good high resolution Mario? Or, should he be improved?

Posted on 03-03-08 07:14:17 PM, in Mario 64 Dialog Params (last edited by Yoshi52 at 03-06-08 04:29 PM) Link
I didn't see anything about the Dialog Params here, or anywhere. So, I'm going to test them.

Param 1: Does nothing? I changed it to 20 and 80. Both didn't change anything about the text. So, unknown use.

Param 2: Amount of lines per "block." This Param sets how many lines will show up at ounce.
Example: If set to 1, only 1 line of text will be shown. 0C is the farthest it can go. It can go higher, but it would be off the screen.

Param 3: Indicates X position of text block. This one chooses where the text block will be on the X axis.
Example: 1E is the left. 5F is the center. A0 is the right.

Well, that's everything. Pretty simple, actually. I'm surprised VL-Tone didn't know or test these.

These Params can be edited in Text Wrangler. They're right above the text. They're used with the text, I suppose. They change where the text block will show up and how many lines will be on at ounce. I don't think anyone else knows about this. All the SM64 hacks I've seen have text errors with the amount of lines that can be on at ounce.
Does that answer your question?

Thanks for your suggestion. But, I'm not good at making my own high res textures. I can't even make low res textures, just look at my minipic:
Do you know who can make them or where I can find them?

EDIT: Well, I made an attempt on the "M" and button textures:

Like I said, I'm not good at making textures.

EDIT: I released the first episode! See how it looks on YouTube! I was thinking of doing every star, but then I'd have to make 120 videos! So, I decided on making the minimum stars: 70. I'll definitely skip some to speed the process up.

Posted on 03-07-08 09:56:13 PM, in YouTube 400 Error Link
I use Mozilla Firefox for two main reasons:
1. So Microsoft doesn't take over the world.
2. I like how it remembers Tabs from my last use.

But, something bad happened around the time YouTube added those ? mark help things.
I keep getting a 400 error whenever I try to visit YouTube with Firefox. I can access it with Explorer, but I don't like that browser. Anyway, here is a quote from the error:

Yeah, that's basically the page that comes up instead of YouTube. The Cookie thing is always different though.
I also downloaded Firefox again, and the error still happens.

Can anyone help me?

These ? marks:

I've always had the Google Toolbar thing. It never happened before. But, that came with Firefox 2. That can't be it... Right?

The 400 error is talking about the header being too long... What's that mean?

I've read every single one! They are amazing! You are great at making these comics! I cannot wait for the next one to come out!

I thought General Guy knew that the blue ones swim. Hm... He must've forgot. I wonder what he'll think when he finds out he's been going the wrong way all this time. Maybe he'll have a RPG fight with King Longspear...WooHaHa... if they meet.

That looks awesome so far! Good luck on it!

You could just, edit your post. Then instead of clicking Submit, copy and cut the whole post. Go back, and delete your post. Then click "New Reply" and paste your last post. Click Submit, and you edited your post and got the thread bumped to the first page. Would that be OK to do?

The first Mario World hack I made was Super Mario World ED|TED . It wasn't good... Thanks to all the "helpful" reviews I got from SMW Central users, I decided to make a sequel. This is Super Mario World ED|TED II. It's a simple Mario World hack with no special tiles or other things like that.

NEWS
A new demo has been updated!

DEMO
Here's a new Demo!
<object width="425" height="355"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hzeLofRyw0M&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

If the video is too laggy, go here:
World 2.7 Preview.

SCREENSHOTS

Oops, a glitch...

I wonder what that means.

Oh...

A new water level.

This stage is no longer a side-scroller.

Some speed run levels don't let you use Yoshi.

PATCH
This patch contains Yoshi's Island, Donut Plains, an almost done Vanilla Dome, and an alternate path containing speed runs! Castles 3 and 4 are NOT ED|TED.

SMW ED|TED II World 2.7
It's an IPS patch of course.

No, it doesn't work like that here. Content first, THEN post.

I'll leave this open until tomorrow, in case you have something to add by then...

I apologize for the wait. I wasted too much time on the opening. But, the patch is up and an outdated preview. The preview only shows world one. Some of those will change in the next patch. They aren't very ED|TED.

EDIT: A new demo is up! The last level isn't available in the patch. It will be in the next one though.

In order to make the patch I had to extend the ROM to 1 meg. You probably need a ROM that was extended with Lunar Magic. But if you did have a 1 meg ROM, then, I'm not sure. Is it a Super Mario World 1.0 (U) [!] ROM? It canNOT be the All Stars version.

Better luck next time, though?

There were some beginning levels I was going to fix. If the level was in a speed run level, then I can't change it. I'll make more original levels next patch. Or, at least try...

You're up against a lot of really good ROM hackers here, and this is just an absolute joke. Sorry.

I'll make less modifications, and more original levels on the next patch. Getting comments like yours is what really inspires me.

Anyway, I think that the general consensus here is that it looks unoriginal, and I have to agree. After viewing the video, it looks like you are barely editing the levels at all, just moving around a few objects and sprites. You can do better than that.

Hm, yeah, I can.

Here's some helpful tips:
1. When creating your own level, the first thing you oughta do is press Ctrl-Shift-Delete to delete all objects and sprites from the level. This will enable you to create your own original level instead of just moving stuff around.

That's what I did for Vanilla Dome 4. And, I will go back, and fix old levels that weren't in the speed runs.

2. Play around the BG and FG properties. Use different BG's, FG tilesets, sprite tilesets, and colors, so you are able to make a more unique level. Don't just expect to change one color in the BG and think it will look completely new. You don't know how many times I've seen that same Yoshi's Island 1 FG and BG set in hacks, I've been sick of it for years now .

I'm happy with how Yoshi's Island 1 came out. I may change the palettes, though.

3. SMWCentral has plenty of ExGFX, custom blocks, and sprites. Try some out where you see they will fit well, and use them wisely, without unnecessarily overloading on them.

I tried to use Custom Sprites, but couldn't figure it out. Is there a FAQ on SMW Central?

On another note, that extra clock by the time display in the status bar is unnecessary. Why would you need two things to label the time? Plus, it doesn't look correct on the right-side of the number. I suggest using either just "Time" or the clock.

Hm...I'll change that, I guess.

Uhh, whatever you're using to make the patch is probably not a very good IPS patcher if it can't make a patch using an unmodified SMW ROM. Try Lunar IPS.

For reference purposes, expanding a ROM by saving a level in Lunar Magic will also add ASM hacks so the game can load sprites in edited levels. Since an IPS patch is just differences between two files, and the same ASM hacks are in both files, the ASM hacks aren't included in the patch. That's why the patch doesn't work.

It doesn't work that way with PPF patches. Anyway, I reuploaded the patch. Try it now. And remember: Super Mario World (U) [!].
Does the file name of the ROM change anything? If it does, the unmodified ROM should be called Super Mario World Original.

I haven't been here awhile, but I would like to post here that I somehow got a virus that messes with Windows XP. It makes it close at random times. I can still get on the CPU. It's just a pain to do things with how slow this thing goes. I felt I should let you people know.

You say it's slow but this could very easily be an overheating processor or fan going south and not necessarily a virus. This really isn't enough info to go on.

It goes slow because these antivirus pop-ups come up every few seconds, trying to stop the virus. Though, it never gets rid of the virus. And Windows starts up normally, but after 30 minutes, the Windows task bar on the bottom of the screen disappears and most Windows applications don't work. The virus also hid my C: and D: drive, though, I can still access the C:. But, I cannot access D: for some reason. Good thing I have FireFox for my internet browser.

Also, sometimes the right-click menus don't show up.

OK, I think I understand. I just need to know how to get rid of this thing. Redownloading XP may work. But, if it involves using a disk, I can't do it. My disk drive is hidden and can't be accessed.

And another thing, when I try formatting my C: drive, it says it's in use and can't be formatted, even though nothing seems to be using it. Does that mean something?

Is Treeki's NSMB editor Vista compatible? Because it says I'm missing "comdlg32.ocx" or one of it's "dependencies" is missing. I checked and I do in fact have that file. Even redownloading it didn't help.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
