My respect for you increases every time you post.

I checked the link, and then read the big long first post, and then checked the video links, and then I was like, WHAT. By the end of the first video, my heart was pounding too hard and I had to set the laptop on the couch to regain myself before I blacked out. But it was a good thing, I think.

Also, lolwut it's for the Sega CD now? That's news to me.

Simply amazing. I'm so glad you guys overcame the drama obstacle. Human emotions are horrible and need to be suppressed always, so things like... THIS... can exist. You and Team Megamix are my heroes.

I'll be sure to check up on progress whenever you lot feel like updating. Peace, and may your headaches be minuscule and insignificant as possible.

My God. This comic brings back so many memories-- and incredibly, it's still going strong as ever.

Finally caught up with reading the several hundred I've missed. Peardian I've gotta say, not only are you a savant at whipping up such a radical adventure, not to mention all of those eye-blisteringly succulent references here and there that often wind up with me shouting "YES! GOD, YES!!" at the screen, but on top of that you've turned a warm and colorful memory of my troubled life into a living legend, and for that, you're my lifelong Big Damn Hero.

Every single strip of this comic has kept me engaged and thrilled and I absolutely can't wait for more (but will do so anyway, even years if you ask it of me).

My all time favorite is James Kong's *dramatic airship dive EXPLOSION* sequence, holy SHIT, that left me grabbing my face in various positions in rapid succession wheezing madly at the screen as if there was a snake around my throat, all like "Whaaa, whaaa, WHAAAT, AHHH WHAT OH MY GOD WHAAAH", it was so insane and incredible. Your skills with making the comics artistic-wise have improved DRAMATICALLY over time, and back in The Day I always thought you were already a very skilled artist! I'm blown away every time I revisit that strip.

And another favorite bit are many of the oh my god adorable moments with BG and his little friend Caesar, ahhhhh that's just the cutest thing EVER! The Pokemon throwback when Caesar vaporizes all those rampaging AFFUN!s left my face chuckling madly into my blankets. God damn. References, man, they're like crack to me and you never disappoint. (...Mahhhh I want a Caesar tooooo! :O Ack now I'm getting in the mood to play Pokemon Black again, hehehehe)

So... yes. P, you've made me one happy kid-at-heart tonight, basking in the warm and tingly afterglow of giggles and thrill and all-around happy. I'm forever grateful you ended up turning this comic into the empire it's become and counting, and no matter where it leads next, I'll will your success into reality from the very fibers and core of my being!

And of course, though this goes without saying, I wish you well in your endeavors at college and in real-life and with your possible girlfriend (or boyfriend hehe), because that stuff is important too and there is NOTHING WRONG with you having a life! I don't need to remind you of that, but am doing so anyway, because I'm awesome like that. Yes, I missed you, sue me. ♥

EDIT: Good gravy, I'm still wearing the layout you made me almost TEN YEARS AGO! It's unbelievable, surreal in fact, how far back this place goes for me.

Welcome home from spring break, Pear. (Glad to see ME still around? NO U! ♥ ) Yay an update!

Lovin' the effects of Dark Kirby's bomb, with the blue lighting and stuff.

I'm starting to wonder if General Guy is ADHD or something. I swear I would have thought up the same "plan" and expected it to work (only in my head). That's awesome. Wondering now if Plan B will have a new type of battle sequence... hmmm...

Posted on 03-26-12 11:50:45 PM, in PS3 Capture Cards! Need opinions Link

With Skullgirls coming out in just over a week, I'm digging the idea of (finally) getting my hands on a Capture Card for the PS3 so I can record my games for people on YouTube and whatever to watch; apparently such actions are the Big Thing for those entering the competitive scene (well not really, but I dig the idea anyway ). I've wanted a Capture Card for a long time but I'm finally done procrastinating and actually looking for one online to buy.

I found one, I think. It seems bare bones, which is fine by me, but the problem is I know next to nothing about this hardware stuff or even how most PS3 technology/addons/etc., so I was wondering if you geeks could tell me if this is a good deal here, or if I should look into other (better) options, as well as what I should be aware of if/when I'm dealing with these sorts of purchases. I'm never going to get savvy at this without practice, but at the same time a couple protips from the pros can't kill me either (I hope!).

Thanks in advance!

P.S: Shout-out if you're as hyped for Skullgirls as I am

I will be maining Filia, solo, and possibly Filia + Valentine later on. My purchase will be in 27 minutes, I am watching.

Hope to see you guys up and ready to tussle it out soon enough. ^^

EDIT: And if it's "fancy move lists" you want, I believe http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Skullgirls is the place to look. (Spoiler Warning) I'll likely be learning everything in-game though, at first.

EDIT 2: This is outrageous. It's 14 minutes past midnight and Skullgirls is not available for download. I'm literally trembling uncontrollably. I even made sure Reverge was in my time zone so I wasn't just off by a couple hours. Yep, they're in California. I can't believe what is happening. Nothing is real anymore, nothing is sacred or tangible.

(In case it helps some of you grasp the absolute magnitude of my colors that you so desire to soak in: this is a Permadeath game, it deletes your save file every time you die, and I managed to win with a non-newbie-friendly character combination. My feat was great indeed. ^^ Though, it won't bring Michael Jackson back or anything, so I guess it was only *mildly* great when you put it THAT way... but it was still great. And took ages of frustration and effort.)

Well... I had my whole evening planned around it happening at midnight, and now it's not. And now I've been having a panic attack for two hours.

I always do this to myself.

Wow, that IS a fancy movelist. o.o Is that on their site now?? I haven't looked again yet...

Those blogs are great too. I'm a long-time reader of Ms. Fortune's; I suspected it was one of the actual artists, and there's been many posts there that just make me laugh nonstop until I can't breathe. So awesome.

Anyway. I've downloaded and played Skullgirls.

Oh my God this is hard. My characters never jump or block (or stand still) when I need them to, air-dashing is impossible unless I use both my hands on the control stick or D buttons (my thumb can't "rapidly tap to the __ twice", it just doesn't work), and there's so many insane button combinations to memorize, it's like I'm flying a spaceship. How the heck am I supposed to remember that the square or circle or triangle or either of the two R shoulder buttons have subtly different kinds of attacks that are all good in different circumstances? They abbreviate stuff as MK, HK, cHK, it takes me fifteen seconds to stare at it and remember "oh, crouching heavy kick? Which button is that again?", and THEN there are all the attacks that involve holding down two of those buttons at once and moving the control stick in a Z-shaped pattern? WHAT?? I must have tried it like fifty times in Training Mode and I can only get it to work a tenth of the time. So in Arcade Mode I get my ass handed to me on a golden platter, finely roasted, because even if I know a couple four or five hit combos in theory, I can never make Filia do them by pressing the buttons properly on short/no notice (in the heat of battle), unless I button-mash, and then I still get killed. Oh and she doesn't block properly either; I keep trying to crouch-block and they sweep her off the ground anyway, or I try to normal-block and she ends up jumping instead and getting creamed.

AUGH. I feel like I broke my hand just toying with the game for an hour in frustration. I like the tutorials, they're gentle, but I feel like a cripple because I can't even do the simple, nicely-explained directions the screens give me. "Combo like this: *easy three-move combo with button explanations*" "Why won't you obey me Filia!?"

Hopefully any fighting game veterans here will read this and laugh their ass off about it, having possibly been there at one point. I dunno, I guess it's just because I'm a noob who's never played fighting games before, so over time I'll get past this, but right now I can't even believe how you guys DO THAT STUFF. The Wiki is saying stuff like "Basic pointers. Filia's dash is sudden and one of the fastest in the game, so that makes her excellent for wavedashing." Well that's fantastic! If I even knew how to get her to do a normal dash when I want her to instead of injuring my thumb and wrecking up my controller pointlessly, I'd probably shower you with confetti for your excellent advice, wiki!

I'm so frustrated. I knew I'd need time to get good at the game, but I didn't think I'd be an absolute cripple.

While I do love to sit down and play Crawl some days, it's just a little bit on the... slow side. Which kinda makes me do rash moves to speed things up. Needless to say, that's kinda fatal in this game.

Ah, yes. I'm always tempted to use Shafts to skip several floors on purpose, which can be a real nasty, quick way to lose a character.

Quite a bit of players actually limit themselves to a couple hours a day on Crawl, between work shifts or something, because you can literally pause and save your game at any time ever so there's no pressure even in "tricky spots" in their game. (Saving and quitting is "Shift+S" by the way.) I always tend to want to "power play" it, but the one time I won was when I saved and quit whenever I was wearing down from it, and came back to it when I was bored of the other stuff. I think that's the secret, really. Just taking it easy and casual.

Ah, I stumbled upon the two-button dash by accident, and while it's better than the double-tap, the problem is I forget about using it along with all the other two-button things when I'm in the middle of supposed-to-be-doing-my-combo.

The wavedash thing makes a lot more sense when you explain it, Sails, thanks. I think it would break my thumb right off of its socket to try and do, though. It already feels like bees just to do any of the two-button things for too long, I shudder to imagine it in rapid succession like that.

I might have to go for the arcade stick. I didn't want to do that! I didn't want to become "one of those people", you know, the ones that say the only "real" way to play is with an arcade stick and to "gtfo if you're a casual", etcetera. But I swear it's not for that, it's because I have what my old holophone instructor used to call Stupidfingers and apparently I need duplo blocks in order to not be a cripple, but I'll judge myself anyway because... aggghhh. Just because. God dangit, I need some sunlight... I need some noise! I need Starbucks.

D-Pad can't do diagonals. That's why my thumb feels like bees.

Is the PS3 control stick notorious or something? I'm actually fairly new to the PS3; it's the first non-Nintendo/Sega machine anyone in my family has ever owned, and I got it in January, the only game I played on it before today was Disgaea 4, which is an Tactics RPG and doesn't use any fast reflexes. Compared to the Nintendo control sticks I hate how this doesn't have the 8-way notches to help guide which way you're pointing it, but just assumed it was because I hadn't gotten used to it yet (same with Skullgirls and fighters and my above ramblyness). If it's commonly regarded as questionable then this is an aha moment.

I wasn't in your old guild, yet I've sent in an application. Feel free to enjoy having some fresh blood and talent during your clockwork raids. I play a freaky Dread Venom in Tier 3 that will leave you with an eye twitch to witness, hehehe

You made my day with your enthusiasm, Luna! I'm very happy to meet people passionate about Spiral Knights like I am.

Wow, NICE work on the vaccum special effect. The sheer skill and detail put into that is making me salivate. (That or it's the Nutella. Probably the first one though.) I shall accept this episode as a worthy birthday present to me today. Much appreciated.

Oh, I ended up joining a different guild after all. But that doesn't mean we can't all be friends! Anyone who would love to add Schwalala as a friend may do so.

I main a Dread Venom Striker with High damage vs. Gremlins, the Valiance and several 5* Alchemer line guns, and alternatively I can play a Status Bomber with Ash of Agni, Venom Veiler and Voltaic Tempest (but no Shivermist sorry I hate being patient hahaha) and Volcanic Demo Helm for upped charge speed. Defensively I use a Tetra Heart Pendant (+6 HP) and a combination of Deadly Virulisk full set, Radiant Silvermail, Mecurial Mail, Divine Veil, Volcanic Demo Helm and am slowly branching out into more types such as Crown of the Fallen, Skolver full set, and hopefully one day Arcane Salamander set (you have to beat the Shadow Lair to even craft it, but I have the two Level 10 4* items waiting).

So if any of the above make you salivate or at least make you raise your eyebrows, don't hesitate to friend me if you need a decent mercenary elite on your various runs. ^^

Besides, friend requests make good birthday presents!

I'm working through Disgaea 4.

It is hilarious. The vampire is obsessed with sardines. The schoolgirl is delusional and thinks everything's just a dream and she has a demon little sister who is obsessed with being the final boss.

Also it has a MAP EDITOR. YYYYEEEEEESSSSSSS.

Anyone here, ANYONE at this forum, who enjoys Tactics RPGs and has a PS3, needs to pick up this game. No Exceptions.

Godlike.

Third panel brings gigantic Lord Kamina manly tears to my eyes. And this theme in my head.

I love this comic so goddamn much.

Edit: Oh, hahaha, I'll even put money down on this when I say that's not going to put Phazon!Kirby down for long. ^^ Epic battle will be epic.

I just played Demon's Souls for the first time yesterday.

Oh my gosh. Insane and amazing. I must have died over fifty times in just the first area-- but I FINALLY reached and defeated the first major boss of the game. FELT SO SATISFYING.

Edit: If anyone's curious, the character class I use is the Hunter, but even though he started with a Battle Axe, I swapped it out in favor of the weaker, faster Scimitar. I'm kinda bummed though that I can't wear full Plate Mail without reducing my movement speed and nerfing my ability to roll-dodge which I've come to love. Also I really really hate the Bow. So hard to use.

On that note I don't think I've ever played such a grim video game before; just half a year ago I bought the PS3 being the first non-Nintendo console I've ever owned in my life, and until basically JUST NOW, the only game I'd owned for the PS3 is Disgaea 4, which is... well, I wouldn't use "grimdark" to describe it, that's for sure. XD

On that note, if anyone here plays Disgaea 4, feel free to friend me on PSN so we can share custom maps and allies and stuff! I'm "SchwaWarrior".
