Truly, schools are all about being incompetent morons these days.

Yeah, the school network (this was back in the days before they got Internet access, mid-90's) got infected with a virus, and somehow they traced it back to my assigned computer in the crappy lab downstairs. Never mind the fact that I hadn't even used it recently, and the only floppy disk I used with it pretty much stayed on school grounds, and they never even had conclusive proof to begin with. The on-campus police officer, being a gullible moron who believed anything the teachers told him, and lacking anyone else to blame, was dead-set on making me confess ("THAT'S NOT THE ANSWER I WANT TO HEAR durfdurf gonnaexpelyou"). It took forever to regain the trust of the teachers after that (word of my "evil deeds" apparently spread like wildfire), and I'm pretty sure some of them still didn't trust me by the end of my senior year.

I haven't bought Western Digital since that horrible period of time a few years ago where EVERYONE'S WD hard drive I knew of started eating files.

Including the brand-new one I had for less than a week.

Guess I won't be changing my mind anytime soon!

While I agree that this bill is crap, I think some people are blowing it waaaaaaay out of proportion (as always). Similarly awful legislation has come and gone. This isn't going to be the "OMG END OF AMERICA!!!!!1" (though if it somehow turns out to be true, then the American people are far, far more helpless and stupid than I thought).

Yeah, we're pretty sure most (all?) of the animations are ripped straight from Google Image Search and tweaked to fit the sign. There's probably even more copyrighted stuff in the animations that appear inside the letters, though it's kinda hard to tell. There's certainly a lot of stuff that's inappropriate for their business, i.e. "I love you" with a box of chocolates, musical notes, fish, "LOVE" balloons, Pikachu...

Something interesting to note is that many of the animations seem to be designed for an even wider sign; the one in the video can only show 3/4 of them. See: the Disney Dollar, Pikachu (which might even be designed for a sign 1/3 smaller, since it repeats), anything that says "LOVE", the blue pinwheel, the diagonal spectrum wipe, etc. It could be that the company just creates custom signs based on a business's needs, as I've seen an identical sign only half as high for a self-storage company (imagine "FREE LOCK!" in red, vibrating letters). The fun thing about that one is that one side is totally glitched, showing either random scrambled colors or a smattering of disppearing/flashing pixels whenever text scrolls by.

(I can't believe I'm analyzing a friggin' SIGN in-depth...)

The man specifically said he would do it ONLY if he was "assured he would not have to be involved in the upbringing of their young boy and girl or have any financial responsibility towards them." Clearly, some promises (and possibly some laws) were broken.
