Hi hi. I'm Packbat, and Packbat most places online - I met Xkeeper on Mastodon and decided to give their oldschool web forum a shot today.

33/nonbinary lady/Maryland, USA. I love videogames (video games?) but haven't played much besides Minecraft and a bit of Opus Magnum lately. I don't anime much at all, although I've seen a couple of the classics. I love playing tabletop roleplaying games and am currently in multiple campaigns.

Sometimes I will respond to rhetorical remarks literally and at length even when I know they're not meant to be responded to. Also, I might offer people hugs if I feel like they might could use them.

Being forced to make bad decisions. (Or to do evil things, but 'make bad decisions' comes up more often.) Part of why I never finished "Always Sometimes Monsters" because progressing through the game requires you to actively press the button to sign the malicious contract that they let you read and see is malicious.

Like, I get "I am telling a story about this person and this is a critical part of the story I'm telling", but gnnnnnnh. I'm not willing to play a game that makes me inhabit someone I'm not willing to be.

(Also, strongly seconding sofi's "when you have to trigger an event by talking to someone a really special way and nothing indicates what you need to do" - which "Always Sometimes Monsters" also did - and Nin★Collin's "Pixel art-style indie games needing way to much juice for what they are.")

Hee - I do, yes! I actually picked the name for not very good and non-bat-related reasons back when I made my Livejournal account in 2005, but it was pretty easy to fall in love with the animals themselves. 💚 🦇

Posted on 11-08-18 03:42:38 PM, in I slept listening to a song on loop (again) Link
I didn't used to, but lately I've been relistening to familiar podfics or the beginnings of familiar YouTube videos - mostly Clickspring for the latter - with the volume turned down very, very low as a way to get me to be still and not amping myself up with thinking while I'm trying to fall asleep.

When I'm awake, though, I listen to single songs over and over and over a lot. I think because the things I am getting out of the experience take longer than the single-digit number of minutes of the song's runtime, so I have to stick with it for a while.

I can't say it was a birthday that changed much for me, either - I was homeschooled and had been going to community college for ...two and a half years? Anyway, what with that change by comparison, going to university that fall wasn't Huge™ in my mind, even if I was staying in the dorms there instead of staying at home. Honestly, the bigger transition was discovering webcomics that December.

*nods*

I think I stopped feeling unsure and started feeling like an adult in my early thirties (i.e. a year or two ago - I'm still in my early thirties).

Oh, thing which I wish I had gotten on top of earlier (not that I'm on top of it now): finding a way to get around to all the every-few-months things every few months instead of never/randomly. I have a phone reminder that goes off every month to tell me to make a credit card payment and another that goes off every two months to tell me to change the furnace filter, frex.

I very much like how each post lists which post it was in the total post count - that is fun and delightful.

I think I had a dream this morning which was an AU of real life where I was, like, a goddess sealed away in a box or something and had accidentally been let out? And I managed to escape by floating through the earth to the one of my few remaining 'followers' who was on the complete other side of the planet - and turned out to have no idea who I was. And then I cooked them a meal.

Woke up and there was snow on the ground and snow falling. It's kind of pretty, but I mostly just feel happy that I don't have to go anywhere.
