Ugly thread.

Hoping Near didn't do what he's mentioned he's going to do.

I had an older brother of those. Got them starting back around a decade ago. Ended up getting myself and my father a pair and then my pair slowly began to eat up over time. Ended up changing the ear pads out with some memory foam and then finally discontinued their use for a pair of Sennheisers, HD 580 I think, which were eventually superseded by another pair of Sennheisers that were wireless until they failed and then finally I'm at a stage of using the WH-1000XM3's that I have which are the daily drivers for the main computer.

The first pair of Sennheisers I still have since they're really the only wired pair I continue to use from time to time and the second pair had a wireless failure so they've been decommissioned and the Sony's I gave to a friend with new pads on it. Think it was a base issue - wanted to use them for the living room TV but I've never gotten them to work and Sennheiser no longer supports the model (which is a sign).

I'm not sure if it's because I'm using HTTPS but your layout doesn't show unless I hit 'Load Image' to everything.

And I played a bit of Strive but not really. Enough to do all of mission mode and play a little online a bit.

All I'll say is I would suggest not looking up the Kiwi Farms thread on this. Unless you want a reason to be more of both. Just a stark reminder of how some people really are.

I'm sure Portland, Oregon would be able to answer that one for you today. That's oppressive heat. Then again, the whole west coast and upwards of into Canada has had nothing but a heat wave in the past couple or weeks or more.

We've mostly evaded it but I imagine come the end of next month into August we'll really pay for it. It's usually that way following a bad winter when we get a massive snowstorm in the same year. At least I've never been through a year here so far where we've gotten 19 inches of snow in one go.

I bought my 1070 at launch and it's held up to everything I've done save for MS FS 2020...and even then it's certain usable. The only reason I gave up my 680 back in the day was because it was getting bulldozed by such titles as Redout back when it originally came out and was having issues keeping up. Ended up throwing my Sandy Bridge build and it with it to a friend of mine that they use as their standard unit instead. Meanwhile, I've got a 4th gen Intel core just sitting there without any use.

Should really do something with that. Thing's got 32GB of DDR3 RAM. Really good G.Skill and I have a case I can donate it to that has an old AMD 965 in it...just lack a graphics card worth a crap...

You'd think with numbers like that I wouldn't have complaints and all.

Except I was on their ass for four months straight at a point due to upstream loss because of how 'in disrepair' the return feed was in the neighborhood. So far, in fact, that they literally had the city lead get in touch with me and now I literally have him on speed dial. And I got twenty bucks a month off my bill for the foreseeable future since I'm basically frontline intel. I guess. Or maybe they dropped the bill because of the numerous complaints I had. Couldn't tell you. All I know is I had upstream data loss between 10+% at times and trying to send anything, much less have a Discord conversation, was nearly impossible.

Godforbid I wanted to stream or something like that.

It's still not perfect, but at least I've got the average rates down to under 1% loss most of the time. That's what happens when you try to send gigabit over old coax. State really needs to get with the times and do fiber deployment but solutions with Elon Musk dishes will probably come faster than that happens here.

98 on an '89 RCA. Just an old HP I fixed.

It's running Firefox 8.0, latest I could make work somewhat decent with KernelEx.

Eh. I streamed on 1.5mbit up DSL for the longest time. It's possible. It just looks like shit. Twitch doesn't allow any higher than 6Mbit as it is.

Especially if you streamed high movement games like I did (StepMania, at the time). Always fixed that by putting the VODs or similar on YT after the fact though but that doesn't exactly make live shit any better.

Wouldn't mind if my 3080 finally shows up as available from my back-order in December.

Especially after putting this in earlier today for a customer.

Course, they spent $2400 on that. That card, that is, not that and the RAM.

Uhhhhh I've been fine with 10 before I got bumped to ~17 on Twitch. Used OBS and was able to do 1080p60 just fine. Stream on Discord to others just fine too but that's significantly less resources needed because I don't use Nitro and that's like 720p30...I think.

I mean I was going so far as to use Parsec and just barely making it work at 4 player with games like Crawl for a while there on 10 but that was reeeeeally pushing it. And I CERTAINLY couldn't do it if my upstream was having a bad night.

I hard-limited MS trying to update without my permission.

'My organization' is just MS's way of saying 'someone knows how to use group policy editor'.

Eh, main reason I'm doing it is to get to the point where I understand on a daily basis so I can know the ins and the outs of it once the questions start rolling in for me and my job. Better to get ahead of the game than not...especially with how it was back when the RC's of 8 started popping up and I didn't have a lick of a clue originally how to even get to the Desktop.

I don't think it's going to be -that- severe with this new version but I certainly do want to get ahead of the game and worst case I can always roll back what I did without issue.

I think 10 actually has lower system requirements than 7. Or at least they should be about on par. It's worth a shot at least.

Lower requirements doesn't necessarily mean it's going to run better. 10's a bloated mess in comparison to 7.

If the laptop is what it is, might be better going the XP route. At least that you can browse with stuff like Mypal. I use an old ASUS Eee to do Einstein@Home stuff in the living room on an old Intel Atom as it is.

I don't suppose anyone digs around BotB at all? They do some pretty fun things and have have some pretty fun people over there. It's kind of a playground site, I suppose, but the comps they have are worth noting.

IRC bridge or real bot to Discord? I've kinda made a roundabout for mine.
