Oh those Macs (right). I've seen a few waltz through here. Still in use to this day by some but they're becoming more of a rarity as time goes on. Interesting design choices underneath housing all the innards. For better or worse.

From an i3-8350K yesterday. At 4.4 on an otherwise 'meh' i3. Not too bad for performance and heat on a basic setup on air.



And then you've got this beast that I got running at 5.3 (5.2 in the shot, had better cooling by the end of it) for someone else running on liquid. It'll eat up anything.

It got a lot easier than the old manual overclocks as time went on. Anymore, they can be done out of the box automatically or by just choosing a particular profile for the RAM and the CPU itself. Very little effort is required for the basics anymore.

It's when you're looking to do exact voltages and clocks that it starts to get a little more involved. A lot of reboots and tests to see what your particular chips are going to take.

And yea, you are not gonna want to put any less than LCS on a 12900K. It was made for overclocking and that sucker can get up to 300W TDP on full load under overclock VERY easily which generates a FUCKTON of heat. Prime95 against that thing was still getting very hot temps, even with LCS...and I was running a very nice CAPPELIX on it from Corsair. That thing almost wants LN2 (liquid nitrogen) under heavy duress.

The 12900K was part of a $20K rig. It is currently in use for VR in a 20x20 ft. setting. Main user is 17 years old.

1 AM is about the maximum uptime before I crash out. Minimum I get a night is 6 1/2 hours (up at 7:30 AM during the weekdays at latest).

Past week I'm usually in bed by 9 or 10 PM. Didn't happen tonight because weekend and people wanted to play Mario Party Superstars.

I ironed out the basic layout a tad along with the bio redo that I mentioned in the pub thread earlier. Just to fill the space on the shorter posts. Figure I may as well do everything there to start.

I might do something worthwhile with it later but it works for now.
