In my opinion, this game is like Spider Man 2(the game) set in the Middle East. Huge open world, go anywhere, very vertical gameplay. Combat is nice..but not much better than Spider Man's. Buncha Collectibles, flashy scenes.

I was better than average, but that whole modern day memory of passed lives and sci fi shit really was crap. Why must developers take their games so unbelievably serious that they have to add these unnecessary plot twists. Just gimme the damn gameplay and spare me your moral dilemmas and social analysis.

Think they'll add stages from the original game? DK's, Kirby's, and Yoshi's stages were in Melee you know. I would love a stage like Brinstar Depths that rotated. They could add a Super Mario Galaxy type level. A planetoid level that rotated clockwise and counter AND towards and away the camera. You would have to jump over obstacles or they ram into you.

They could maybe add a variable gravity component whereby the planetoid grows bigger or smaller, or you have to jump to a different one using those red transport stars in Galaxy.

That may be too gimmicky, but well so is Big Blue, Icicle mountain and that Rainbow Cruise level.

Posted on 11-30-07 06:45:29 PM, in Help/Questions about Toad's Tool 64 and SM64 hacking Link
Hello SM64 hacking forum. I am enjoying ToadsTool very much. Fantastic job VL-Tone. I will admit, I have not read every thread and every document on SM64, so if my question has already been answered 100 times and/or is totally inappropriate, I analogize in advance.

You know how when you click on red objects..0x24 commands, there is a little window at the bottom allowing you to choose in what "Act" that object appears.

Example: object King Bob-Omb only has the Act 1 star activated and therefore only appears when choosing act 1 at the start of the level.

Is it possible to make blue..0x42 commands work the same way. Obviously there is a reason that the little Act window goes away when editing blue objects, but is there a work around?

I want to make the red coins appear only in act 1. I know I can edit 0x24 objects and turn them into red coins and then choose an act. But there are far more 0x42 objects than 0x24, at least in Bob-omb Battlefield there are.

My end goal is to have 4 or 5 separate sets of 8 red coin challenges...Act 1 has its own set of 8 red coins..separate from Act 2, which in turn are separate from Act 3..

Bob Omb Battle field has 30 red objects total. I don't want to remove warps or other necessary objects, so I'm down to like 20 0x24 objects..not nearly enough.

Any suggestions? (Damn sorry for long post)

Hey cool. Fellow Guitar Hero players. I thought this thread was for Stepmania type games only. May I ask what song you are using to get the 1k note streak, that is if you are sticking to one song to try and get the achievement.

I believe people are suggesting Cult of Personality or One to get that streak. I personally have never gotten passed the 700 note streak, but I haven't really been trying to.

I am mostly focusing on 5 starring every career song on expert. I just need those last 5 songs.

As for those new GH2 songs. It makes perfect sense that they'd try to capitalize on GH3 and Rock Band's (to some extent) media explosion. Some people might not be able to get GH3 or RB, so they can at least buy these new songs.

As in like Zuma, Feeding Frenzy, Insaneaquarium, Space Invader clones, Breakout clones, and the like..? Yes, they are very enjoyable time wasters when you're too mentally tired for the calculus homework that is WoW or Halo.

I burned a cd with about 40 of those popcap games. I installed it at my moms daycare center's computer last summer and it actually kept those brats from tearing the place down like they usually do every summer.

That and the GBA emulator + pokemon were godsends that summer.

Ya like Mega Man 3? Ya like the classic NES games like Castlevania, Kid Icarus, Zelda 2? I have this old project. I haven't worked on it for months. I feel bad leaving it collect virtual dust.

MegaFLex is a very good editor, but I just cant get into a good groove using it like other game specific editors like SMB3 Workshop or Rock&Roll.

Anyone is welcome to use my GFX changes.

In my opinion, I believe pokemon *should* have lower poly counts than the other models. It makes sense really. If only the pokemon models are significantly lower quality, then you could say it was intentional.

Pokemon are cartoonish and simple in design, probably because of hardware limitations, but nevertheless, that's their style now since they were first drawn in 3-D on Nintendo Strategy Guides for Pokemon Blue/Red, then fully rendered in 3d in the stadium games.

I think they look very pokemonish, as they should. A realistic looking Lugia, is not a Lugia in my book.

All very true and unfortunate facts. But I guess you have to have your bitter songs to appreciate the sweet ones. And yeah, Impulse, along with Avalancha, are the 2 exceptions in the bonus songs. Those 2 songs kick major ass.

I have another question. I have not touched the area warp commands. I want every door and warp leading to the same places as always. Yet when exiting the castle grounds into the castle interior, I sometimes end up in that wierd spot behind the door (Yet inside the castle)

Like I said I have not changed any warp, in fact I even went over every warp destination command(in Castle grounds and Castle interior 1) and clicked on the revert to original button on the bottom of the editor just in case I accidentally messed with them.

Still messed up. I have changed and modified a buncha objects in the castle grounds. Nothing that crashes the game or anything, but I do have some breakable boxes close to the castle entrance. Is that whats messing me up?

Are there some objects that change warp destinations when placed in a level?

That looks really good. The huge pink coral look a bit outta place. Maybe making them smaller would help. The music is awesome, how do you hack the music like that?

Holy shit that is awesome. Those graphics are phenomenal. The music is sweet. The new enemies are incredible. How the hell did you do all that? I really gotta get updated on all these crazy SMW zaniness. I still haven't figured out how to add custom graphics to SMW without destroying my rom. (Damn you EXGFX!!)

Its like you completely added new enemy types with new behaviors. (Those YI piranhas and plant spewing blocks) The purely percussion instruments are perfect. Say that 3 times fast

I hope you guys finish this, community projects tend to have a 99% failure rate. *knocks on wood*

I must have read the help file 30 times total from top to bottom. It sure seems simple enough, but it just wont do it...lol I have had an easier time changing the GFX on numerous other games without dedicated game editors...go figure.

Interestingly enough, every tutorial and/or forum post explaining the subject seems to have been typed by 4-year olds. No offense to any 4 year olds who frequent this forum, but I just cant get passed sentences like: (Taken from a GFXut written by who knows..)

"...Don't change FG1 and FG2, these are some of the main Graphics from the game, its better to don´t change it the beginning But you can change BG1 and BG2. In this example, choose 80,81, this were new ExGFX-files. Now press OK. The graphic in that level will screw up, because you have no new Graphics inserted. For that, need now the "Tile Layer Pro"."

...yeah thanks.

I can see a better implemented space jump(or double jump) of his being fun. But yeah, this doesn't really scream "awesome."

It really seems more of a test hack to try out various features one would eventually iron out to be less zany and more playable. Faster Goombas are good, but his are too fast. Higher jumping can add to gameplay, but his Mario jumps too high.

Music was cool though.

Cool, thanks for the update. I hope your new GUI is nice and friendly. Will you be including a help file with all features explained or some sort of FAQ? Your editor seems very complete, it would be a shame if its features aren't taken full advantage of by its users.

Posted on 12-22-07 06:17:39 PM, in SMW Custom Block Problem Link
I realize this is not a SMW hacking forum and that SMW forums tend to be..how should I put this..they are special. I guess I could create an account at SMWCentral to ask this, but quite frankly, I just don't want to. I believe I will get a clearer, better answer here at Jul. No offense to any SMWC posters.

Recently, I have been really delving into the depths of Lunar Magic. Up until a few days ago, all I could do was move blocks and change enemies. I can now add my ExGFX and work with most graphics related features in LM.

Anyways, my main problem is actually just aesthetics related. Does anyone know a quick fix to this...?

I downloaded this custom block "Mushroom Block" (Acts like the mushroom block from SMB2 US) from SMWCustomBlocks

It eats objects. Those bushes aren't in the background because then they would not scroll in sync with the floor.

My second question: What is the deal with custom animated blocks? I kinda sort of get it. Can someone just be kind enough to give me a step by step? When I try to get a block to only use a palette animation, every "non used" block in the tile selector starts using the animation.

Third question is custom music insertion. I can't seem to insert the music that comes with Addmusic But I'm confident I will eventually figure it out.

I appreciate any and all comments to my issues.

I actually thought about the layer 2,3 but I wasn't confident with editing them. Once I read your reply I went ahead and tried it and it worked perfectly!

I had to edit the "Level Mode" to allow Layer 2 Editing, which was super easy, then threw some layer 2 bushes and bam, they don't get eaten and scroll in sync with the floor. Thanks Boing.

As for the palette animation, you were spot on again. Although I am still not 100% on what is happening, It looks like what I want.

And as for the music, I had already read that 1MB requirement. So I used Lunar Expand to make my rom 1MB..still didn't work.

Yeah, Guitar Hero 3. As Ive posted before is, its my favorite game series and I enjoy it every time I play it. GH1 is the reason I got a Ps2 and GH3 is the reason I got an Xbox 360 (Yes I realized GH3 is for PS2 also, but I needed a good excuse to get a 360)

In my opinion, GH3 has the best song list, but also a teensy bit on the too easy side. Some songs, like Devil went down to Georgia and Thru the Fire and Flames can get insanely difficult if you aren't hyped up on cocaine, but in general, the timing for hitting notes has been expanded a bit too much. Any newcomer really shouldn't have much trouble even on expert difficulty really. I almost feel cheated having 5 starred so many songs on expert on my first or second try.

I can't imagine a better video game Christmas present, so I hope you guys spend your 25th rocking out.

Dude, that is awesome. Although don't those logs tilt like a balance thing? Whatever, its still impressive. All your screenshots show off great skill. That oveworld is truly a marvel. Seriously how long did it take you to construct that overworld?

It is good that you are using custom music, I just don't think the ones played on your 2 videos really go well with SMW. Since your graphical style is still very much SMW, it would be more fitting if the music was still SMWish.

Keep up the great work. I'd love to test your hack if you need testers.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
