haven't really had anything to back up, since before maybe 2014 I didn't really have any data to back up since I didn't use computers much.

though nowadays I keep everything on my harddrive, and back up more important stuff to my external, just hoping these drives don't ever go kaput.

if I ever do a hardware upgrade I'd probably just end up making an image of my entire drive and moving stuff over, heheh... there's way too much stuff on here that's important to me

Slight humidity, I can't deal with dryness or the air being water.

Doesn't really matter what temperature, though. Anything between 2°C and 27°C is fine to me, though I think my true favorite weather is the rainy season during spring. pretty much what sofi and Rambly said.

CDs and notebooks. I don't even write anything in the notebooks, and I scarcely listen to the audio CDs I have, or ever use the CD-Rs I have, but damn, I just love having 'em.


... Really going to be a pain in the ass when I have to move and lug around a giant box of empty notebooks and CDs.

It's far nicer being able to read a forum and get an idea of a community than to look at a feed and get a swath of unending, mostly meaningless sharing. It's an indescribable difference that's only really come around with the rise of social media, because at no point in history did anyone consider it a good idea to put all the pointless parts of their thoughts in with everyone else's in a blender.

God, I love anything by Osamu Sato. LSD: Dream Emulator is like the gateway drug (no pun intended) into the mind of a truly strange and complex game designer.

I think besides Marathon and EYE: Divine Cybermancy (mentioned earlier in this thread,) Osamu's games are some of my biggest inspirations.

I also love Garage: Bad Dream Advneture, a game rather difficult to even find information of. It's like a dark shadow to Osamu's work, though not made by him.

Perhaps some day it will see common use again. For now I have a vim macro that makes one for me, with *s rather than the actual unicode character because vim's text rendering is weird.

Yeah, I haven't had any trouble with running any RPGMaker games on Linux. WINE works just fine, though my setup is a bit crazy, so it's probably the amount of insanity making it work and not any actual quantifiable configuration.

I quite agree with that idea, and share similar sentiments with rakiru.

Personally, I feel if someone is enough of a dick to do something like that, they'll go almost any length to do what they're after, so it would just be best to have a laxed-but-still-private-enough approach.

God, tell me about it. I had to deal with someone for an entire hour just after I woke up today because I muted them on my server for being annoying. Just quit being annoying. That's all I'm asking you to do is apparently too much for some people to comprehend, let alone accept.

Being able to communicate quicker with people is nice, but it is extremely tiring. Only reason I really use twitter is for art, like Pixiv. Forums tend to make conversation far smoother and more thoughtful than IM, like drinking cream rather than milk. (With that analogy, Twitter would be like drinking thumbtacks.)

Been trying to write a compiler for the past few months. I got about as far as parsing an AST before my brain started exploding, translating code to IR/assembly is really way harder than I could have ever imagined. Guess I need to start simpler, somehow...?

The current iteration is written in D, though I'm also trying Go to see if it works any better with the way interfaces etc. work in it.
