^αWalking for transportation is a fairly regular thing for us, but it's been diminished lately due to a combination of financial/outing habits changing and Texas summer making it less physically palatable. Improvisationally dancing around is another thing, and that's been diminished lately by weird house nonsense resulting in space problems.

What we want to get into is a lot more basic core muscle training. Picked up a door-frame chin-up bar to give us more options (but haven't set it up yet); in retrospect I'm not sure that was the best idea, but the idea of having something to grab onto Right There in a doorway seemed compelling from a habit-building perspective.

^αI'm not sure if this counts, but I have a vague memory of this electronic game/toy—

It was colorful plastic, probably sometime in the 1990s. It had an inner square and an outer square, each with four large round buttons in the corners, numbered 1–4 with dots on the top. The inner buttons were targets, and the outer buttons corresponded to players. Battery-powered, had a speaker. After you started a game, a repetitive music loop would play, as the turn timer, and voice samples would prompt each player to trigger their player button followed by a sequence of target buttons. Depending on the difficulty, the instruction could be a single target, a target and repeat count, or a first target, repeat count, and second target. (“One touch three three times then four!”) You would get points for correctly following the instructions, and lose them for pushing wrong buttons or for failing to complete the sequence before the next measure of the music finished.

I have no idea what it was called, and it'd be neat if someone recognized it…

^αWe did finally get a simple stainless steel French press. No home grinder yet, so we're using store-ground beans. Works pretty okay, honestly, even though we were told that consistency of grind is really significant for French press.

^αWe inherited a copy of The Art of Noise's The Seduction of Claude Debussy from one of our predecessors. I think Lightspar actually got into the sound of it even more than we did, but it's got a really nice hybrid sound to it and the album covers this whole sort of… impressionistic arc, almost, about Debussy, and John Hurt does an excellent narrator voice for the style. It does contain some explicit lyrics, for those who are worried about that.
