Yeah, MIDI is definitely a desktop only thing these days. I know converting MIDIs to actual sound is pretty trivial if you have a DAW, but most of us here aren't musicians, I'm pretty sure.

At least there are online converters out there, if nothing else?

Extra long single mattress on a box spring.

Alternatively, and more often than I'd like, my desk.

I mean, that honestly depends on the kind of software you're talking about, too. Super Mario Bros. is a game; essentially, playable art. While there may be updates to such a thing to better get across what the developer(s)/artist(s) behind it all intended to make it in the first place, or if it was the point of it to update over time from the get go, generally, games do not need updates in and of themselves except to ensure people can continue playing them - which is a purely environmental thing.

Then of course you have software that you use for particular things like Photoshop or your operating system of choice, which is subject to changing needs and expectations just by virtue of what it's made for. The software itself still doesn't change per se, but it does get less and less useful as time goes by.

Combine that with the fact that "hard work" like in the olden days just isn't as likely to get one ahead anymore in the first place thanks to automatization, and... yeah.

Can't expect everyone who can to work for a living when there just isn't enough work for everyone to even work full time, and employers won't start paying people more or hiring more people, because the current system is aimed at profit above all else, at any cost; while completely ignoring the bigger picture of it all.

Oh hey. I'm Thaminga, 25 years old, and a visual artist that mostly draws kink art.

I've known X for a long time now in other places but didn't really find this forum until pretty recently! Also happen to be on Mastodon and Twitter. Interests include astronomy, sci-fi, retro gaming, worldbuilding, linguistics and music.

As a bonus, have a bunch of gallery links~

We didn't get one out here; I'm in Europe.

Still technically didn't sleep through, somehow? Ended up waking up from a pretty intense dream that I barely remember anymore riiiiight around the time totality happened.

Fries with mayonnaise.

For the record that's absolutely a combination I hate too, but somehow nobody else here does. Oh, Holland~

Really? I hear people from outside this general part of the world (read: the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany) freak out about that just about anytime I mention it to them. Must be a local/particular kinds of restaurants only thing over there, I suppose.

Some low level of constant background noise and a good amount of but not total darkness usually work best for me, personally. Specifically constant background noise; something more intermittent (like say, people working outside, knocking central heating, what have you) tends to keep me up all night and I've had my ceiling fan on outside the summer months on multiple occasions to drown that out.

Other than that... I can't say I was ever one to hug pillows in spite of sleeping on my side, but I do tend to cross my arms whenever I'm lying down, even if I'm on my back. Imagining the bed is slowly swaying back and forth like one of those swinging ships you see at amusement parks tends to help too, for some bizarre reason.

Just kinda threw something together because I felt like it, I s'pose.

Pictured: half-eaten homemade pita(???) with peanut butter, paprika and basil.

it encourages innovation so much it lead elon to take credit for things nasa could've done 20 years ago had it not been perpetually underfunded ever since the '70s, and that's ignoring the far bigger picture of coporations in general wasting fucktons of resources because that's somehow more profitable to them

it's just that efficient

A few times; once or twice after the light in the bathroom broke after I'd already gotten the water going, and once when I had a splitting headache and I was just kinda avoiding bright lights in general.

Not a bad experience by any means, but I still prefer being able to easily see what I'm doing.

Lastly, 65°F, overcast

These are, unsurprisingly, also the weather events least likely to happen where I live.

Come to Holland, that type of weather will happen here at practically any time of the year.

As for me... hmm. Honestly, my comfort zone is pretty much anywhere between -10°C and 30°C, humidity depending for that upper bound - could be higher in practice, but it never goes below 50% out here. I'm down with pretty much any weather type, though cooler temperatures go best with rain or snow, hotter ones with nothing.
