Originally posted by 2Tie well uh, there's very few zelda games that don't have mountains, and dogs are common in most 3D zelda games. also i'm pretty sure undertale and zelda aren't the only rpgs that have wish-granting artifacts. if anything, i feel like the biggest point you could be making is similarities between how the twili and the monsters are treated.. though, i haven't played undertale so i'm not sure how accurate that observation is. but i feel it'd be stronger than "hey both games use dog skulls, have sad moments, and have songs named similarly!!"
I see what you are saying, but my point is that it seems to me like Toby Fox (creator of UnderTale and its soundtrack) pulled a lot of inspiration from Zelda games, and it doesn't seem like anybody but myself and a Reddit user has noticed.
I know that UnderTale was itself a fangame of EarthBound, and at first glance people tend to compare UnderTale to Pokémon games, but I believe that has more to do with Satoru Iwata's involvement with those games.
And the mention of dogs was not just about dogs appearing, but that The Twilight Princess in particular has Stalhounds (monster dogs). Toby Fox LOVES dogs. Everybody who worked on the game had a unique dog character sprite. Toby even inserted himself into the game as a dog. A majority of the minor characters in UnderTale are canine. There are also Draugar in both (my theory). These are pretty much improperly buried people who can pass through dirt and stone and have glowing eyeballs and smiles that communicate a warmness they don't feel. Not to mention the split jaw on both the Stalhound and the Gaster Blaster. Also, the Gaster Blaster has horns similar to Stallord's, and both appear only in the hardest boss battle. Most people who bothered to rate the game voted Stallord battle as the hardest in the game. And everybody understands what Sans means when he says we will have a bad time if we fight him.
Need I mention Link can become a wolf in The Twilight Princess?
Regardless, I just wanted to put this out there. ____________________ If I referenced UnderTale here at all, it may or may not have been intentional. |
