Usually burn CDs or make cassettes for when I'm out and about, and sometimes I'll use old iPod or N2DS XL, but when at home I generally just play stuff off of a hard drive. Sometimes I'll listen to stuff on vinyl as well.

For MIDIs, I generally use my SC-88ST but I'll also use the SB Pro MIDI mapper in Windows 9x/3.1 if I'm on my Pentium II.

In the rarest of cases I'll load up my 286, insert a floppy, and load up the Adlib Jukebox.

I don't really have any friends in real life who would be into this sort of thing, but if I did then I would be very likely to recommend it to them.

But think about all the other poor browsers like IE6... oh wait

Please, that's like suggesting people still use XP

XP isn't that bad. 7 is more or less XP+ with some new stuff but it's generally slightly more secure.
The same can't be said for IE though.

mosaic is where it's at yo

I'd have said to try Lynx now, but it's still being updated so I guess it doesn't count

XP is my main OS dudes. For lynx just use the outdated copy on SCN's BBS . Also, due to the way Mosaic handles connections, connecting to Jul from Mosaic doesn't work. It fetches the IP of the domain and connects directly to that.

Pixel art-style indie games needing way to much juice for what they are. If someone makes a game that looks like something you would play on an SNES, it should be able to run on a Pentium IV or similar.

EDIT: Heck, Starbound can run fine on one of my Pentium IV's but simple indie shmups can lag behind. It's ridiculous.

Posted on 03-30-18 07:23:56 PM, in New stuff you got Link

Been a month since I got this, but gonna post about it anyway.

I got a Powerbook G4, with a 12" screen, 867mhz processor, and 640mb of RAM. The seller said it only had minor cosmetic damage but otherwise completely worked, but some of the damage was more major (as in the latch that holds it closed is missing, and in the listing the seller is holding it closed) and the battery holds a 15-25 minute charge. Filed a claim against the seller and I ended up getting it for free!

Great for connecting to tilde.town and chatting on IRC.

Since it runs Tiger it's compatible with the Classic environment.

I second this

The PSP port of Pangya is really fun. It doesn't have all the stages but I would definitely recommend.

The sad thing is, I can't say I'm surprised.

I've already "left" SMW Central, but now I have even less reason to go back.

There is an unofficial Minecraft port for the PSP. The last version was actually released last year (version 2.0).

Posted on 04-14-18 08:59:06 PM, in I need some PPC Mac games! Link

I've had my Powerbook G4 6,1 for a couple months now, but I don't really have that many games on it at the moment. So I need some suggestions! Any genre is fine, I'm willing to check some new stuff out.

Note:
It currently runs OS X 10.4.11.

I haven't tried any of them yet, but I most definitely will.

Ooh, I got some

1. Games not treating 2,4,6,8 as arrow keys on the numpad while numlock is off. This annoys me to no end.

2. Games with limited or improper gamepad/joystick support. It's really annoying when I want to use one of my controllers and a game only supports PS4/Xbox controllers. Also annoying is when a game has no gamepad support, or an extremely poor calibration system.

3. No Midi support. Man, sometimes I just want to plug in my SC-88 St and listen to the games music through that.

Look, I think it's about time we put this joke to REST.

I can CONNECT to this. Maybe we should stop.

Get out and leave no TRACE of these of these jokes

Wow, your stuff is really nice! I've been meaning to get into some digital art myself, do have any suggestions on where I should start? Any book/guide/tip/hardware suggestions would be quite useful.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions!

I haven't decided whether I want to go the iPad route or the computer graphics tablet route though. I might go the iPad route simply due to portability (like you said) but I could see some advantages of having one hooked up to a big PC.

I really like your suggestion about using layers and adjusting their opacity. Definitely will try that out once I get the hardware.

Hot and humid. It hasn't been as bad lately, a recent rain cooled it off a bit.
