I have always been a Firefox user. I loved how fast and reliable it is. Unfortunately I can no longer say that, because it's really slow and bloated now (just like AVG). And on top of that, Firefox 57, which is pretty much self explanatory.

On IRC, I saw Lunaria mention a browser called Pale Moon, and decided to check it out.
It's my new web browser. It's much faster than Firefox, uses the classic "pre-austrilis" GUI, and has HTML5 support. While the latest version doesn't support Windows XP (my most used OS), the last version that does works perfectly fine. Pale Moon starts up using only around 160 MB of RAM, while Firefox can start with over 400 MB.

Howdy mushmouth!
I know I already told ya some of these on tilde.town IRC, but gonna put them here anyway.

I haven't played the original PC-98 version but the DOS port of Princess Maker II is really cool.

I can't really recommend any other PC-98 games, but I can recommend a few PC-88 games. Some of these I haven't played much in their original form, but have played ports that are almost exactly the same.
Sword of Adventure
The Scheme
Popful Mail
Sorcerian
Ancient Ys Vanished
Silpheed
Zeliard
Jesus: Kyōfu no Bio Monster
Revolter
Klax
Gradius
FSD Sample Music Collection <-- Cool music disk collection

All of these should be in the "Retro NEC PC-8801 Game Colection" set on The ISO Zone.

Ooh, I just found out about this game the other day and wanted to check it out. Sweet!

Just a suggestion, but I would advise using a BPS patch, as they work on headered and unheadered ROM's.

It's finally been cold here in the deep south, along with cloudiness and rain. I don't mind the rain/clouds, but the nice bit of cold is rad.

Little late, but for Christmas got quite a variety of things. I'll post some pictures later if I can remember.
*A neat portable CRT (and a color one at that!)
*An old Polaroid. Didn't have any film but the flash still works
*The three Super Famicom Final Fantasy games (4, 5 and 6)
*Super Mario Collection for SFC
*A new Audio Technica turntable along with the Bit.Trip's Greatest Bits record
*The Turquoise and Black N2DS XL
*One of those CultureFly SNES boxes
*Some nice flannel
*Other misc. things

I've been playing through the Etrian Odyssey V demo and I will be running buy BestBuy to pick up the full version later this week. Apparently they still have the launch edition in stock!

It's starting to warm up. It's a little over 51 degrees F right now, and it's supposed to get into the 70s with rain later this week. Farewell wonderful below-freezing temps...

I made a Mastodon account at some point but never even logged in. I might get around to giving it a swing at some point, assuming I can remember.

I have a lot of my stuff from around 2010 and later, except for the Windows 7 hard drive that I wiped entirely to put an XP/Lubuntu dual boot thing on, but I backed up the important stuff off of it before the great wipe. I do have a few things prior to 2010 on the hard drive that came with my emachine (which is buried in a desk drawer) but not sure as to how much, and it's likely just photos and other junk.

I actually just got a kindle yesterday; it's one of the older Kindle 3's from 2010, but it works pretty well. Remarkably the web browser even passes the Acid 3 test!
I don't have any regular books on it yet, as a matter of fact all I have on it right now is manga

Well, as of right know all I have on it are the first 5 volumes of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou and the first volume of 3x3 Eyes.

The first one takes place in a peaceful post-apocalyptic Japan and includes both sci-fi and slice of life elements. The whole atmosphere of it is very calm.

The second one is really hard to explain, but essentially a regular guy named Yakumo is made an immortal servant of a demon with two sides, a demon side (Sanjiyan) and a calmer, more humane side (Pai). He goes on a quest to try to turn her into a human, which is want she wants. The storyline is extremely complex, and spans 40 volumes.

Posted on 01-11-18 12:48:39 AM, in What do you sleep on? Link

I've wanted to make this thread for a while, but kept forgetting. Anyway, what kind of material/bed/rock do you fall asleep on?

For me, I usually lay two folded over comforters down on the floor , a thin pillow, and use a sheet plus a 3rd comforter to cover up with. I got sick of my extremely uncomfortable mattress, and I've found that I prefer the floor, even to other mattresses I've slept on. I eventually plan to get a more permanent solution (maybe one of those shikibuton things) but not in the mood to spend any money on something like that right now, and I'm perfectly fine with what I'm currently doing.

I've considered getting a copy of HAL2000 (a voice assistant designed for Windows 95 or later) for turning on desk lamp, but besides that, no. Also that's not a 2001: A Space Odyssey reference, rather a badly named product.

Beyond that I don't even use a cell phone (which means no Cortana/Siri)
