Heyo all, been familiar with TCRF wiki for some time now ever since a some nobody from Youtube was trying to advertise his vids on the site. Didn't think of joining the forums back then though, came here for a different reason.

I'm mostly looking for stable emulators to play some old games, mostly foreign ones that weren't released in Australia. Was using Bizhawk for some time but the developers over at TASvideos were really condescending when I asked for help or reported problems. Got told to "Google it" when I queried why some cheats weren't working, turned out Bizhawk starts addresses off with 00 instead of 7E, didn't even know what to Google in the first place and figured it out through trial and error.

Had another issue with codes not working which was a simple mistake due to Bizhawk defaulting to the System Bus instead of WRAM when entering cheats (no idea why it does this). When I asked about it, I got told "If you don't understand, give up."

Straw that broke the camels back though was very recently when I reported that freezing addresses wasn't working in the latest version of Bizhawk. They vehemently denied it, even though I went into excruciating detail and in depth testing to prove it. I don't think they'll take me seriously so I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I'm currently playing through Romancing Saga for the SNES using the emulator Snes9x-rr, it was released only in Japan, thinking of writing up a detailed guide for it in preparation for the release of a full fan translation that may be up by the end of the year. Mostly just want to make a general guide with advice on which order to do quests without locking them out (if you fight enemies too much, an address that counts battles will lock you out of certain quests).

I'll see what I can do on about researching the half finished content in the game too (there's a lot), there's a quest relating to one of the 3 evil gods that cannot be started due to a bug, 3 of the ten fatestones cannot be obtained in game despite data for them existing, 1 has a quest tied to it that fails to activate, and there's also an area in the town of Bruelle that cannot be accessed, likely due to another quest marker failing to activate. There's also several dummied enemies that if you force an encounter with, they have full movesets but have garbage sprites.

That's about it for why I'm here and what I want to do. Hopefully this community is much more friendly when I have to pop in and ask about an issue with something. I'm not too knowledgeable on things like coding and memory addresses so it would be nice to have people who can help me with that if I run into trouble while documenting a game.

One last thing though, there's a bit of juicy info on Romancing Saga already on this site: http://www8.plala.or.jp/alice4/

It's all in Japanese unfortunately, my knowledge of the language is passable enough to be able to understand and play the game but that site is a little beyond me and I still need to verify it's information while playing the game (seems accurate so far though). The game also had a remake on the PS2 but it's almost entirely different even if it completed all the unfinished content from the original. It has an entirely different engine and script.

Since I'm dropping my support for Bizhawk, I need a few replacement emulators for documenting games. SNES is covered because I'm happy with Snes9x-rr, but I still need good emulators for the NES, the Gameboy, the Master System, the Genesis and if possible, the PC-Engine too.

Ideally I'd like emulators that let me poke and freeze memory addresses for games, I'd also like them to be able to pause when the program is out of focus. Accuracy to original system is good too but not a big requirement, I can work around that.

So yeah, any good emulators for those systems that can be recommended?
