_LONG POST LOL :specialed:

Recently I've made a couple of upgrades. I got another monitor (lol), but this time absolutely brand new. It's the Dell UltraSharp U2414H, and I've been in absolute love with it. The colors are very great and clear compared to my two other monitors, the way it's setup allows you do swivel it any way you want, and there's many ports to use.

In addition with this, I bought myself a 'Lightpack' which is basically content driven lighting straight from your screen.

You get a bunch of LEDs ready to be plugged into a 'hub' box according to number so you know what LED is which in the software. I didn't do this correctly, but it still works and looks relative to the content! Before placing and plugging up the LEDs though, you put the 'hub' box on the back of your monitor or anywhere really, but you'd probably want to put it behind your monitor. After doing some nice cable management that won't get in the way of the LEDs, you can plug up the hub's power and mini USB cable. You use it's software 'Prismatik' to quickly (or slowly, your choice) capture the content of whatever monitor you choose to capture which sends the average color it's figured out to the hub which then defines the LED's colors.

This all together generates stuff like this:

im very happy with where it's at right now, i need a new camera btw

_Very interested in what Forza 6 is going to be packing judging from the leaked info. Also interested in what Nintendo can bring out again, last year's E3 from them was really cool haha

_Tons of really cool stuff shown yesterday and today so far. Was incredibly interested in Super Mario Maker even though SMBX is a lot more developed than it, Fallout 4 and Doom really, really made me super excited but I currently have my strong doubts for both games (we'll see when they come out), Forza 6's leaked details were all true making Forza 6 a hell of a lot more larger than Forza 5, a good amount of interesting games from them too (including Rare Replay!!) and the Elite controller.

I'd be more hyped for the elite controller if it didn't cost $150 though ://

Also, HoloLens is...............real??? It seems real! hahaha

EA is closing in a few minutes and I honestly have to say, they've been underwhelming to me. NFS looked nice, but man NFS had some underwhelming gameplay too. Customization looked off the chain though.

In general E3 has been going real awesome, and I'm interested in what Sony will bring out.

Wow, and I thought the wii u pro controller was expensive. (It cost me around 65$ converted at the cheapest place.)

Yeah, it's insane. I do believe $150 is asking for a bit too much for a controller, but it's real awesome to see Microsoft being flexible with their products because I wouldn't see this happening last gen.

Sony went up and I do have to admit, I found it a bit underwhelming to myself. They've got content but a lot of it didn't catch my eye. No Man's Land, FF7, and The Last Guardian were really nice though.

Overall, I'm happy with E3 so far. I'll be watchin' Nintendo and Square tomorrow.

_A Marine was taking college classes between his deployments to Afghanistan.

One of his courses had a professor that was an atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked everyone by walking into class, looking up and stating "God, if you are real, I want you to come down and knock me off this platform, I will give you 15 minutes.

Several minutes tick by in silence, when the 15 min. time almost expired the Marine gets up from his seat, approaches the professor and punched him in the face knocking him off the platform and out cold. The Marine simply went back to his seat.

The professor came to, visibly shaken and asked the Marine, “What the heck did you do that for?!”

The Marine said, “God was busy protecting America’s military who are out protecting your right to say stupid shit like that, so he sent me to fill in.”

_Just wonderful in general, it's good to see how far the country has came. It's a shame some parties are deeming it as the "end of mankind" but they'll see soon how it wouldn't make that much of a difference.

It's just weird to see some people legitimately believe that the legalization of same sex marriages will be the end of reproduction. I don't even know how you can think like that....I mean there's the people who are just implying the whole "god's will" thing but the people who legitimately believe that no one is going to reproduce after this...I worry for those people haha

_One tool that I've had a lot of feelings for is Splice.

Splice is a 'cloud' music production service that acts as a bridge between your DAW (digital audio workstation) and storage to actively update all of your projects by saving not only the project file which carries all of the instrument, composition, and mix data, but also all samples / audio files. You can also view your project's guts through the DNA player.

Not only this, but it also acts as a social network dedicated to collaboration. Although I haven't tried the collaboration side, it sounds like collaborating between two different DAWs is capable through 'frozen' audio files which are easily organized by version control, description, name, and more. Same goes for solo projects.

They've also recently added two new features, one where you can buy and manage / backup plugins through Splice and one where you can have a pick of 100 samples from a list of samples, allowing you many specific search functions for $7.99/m.

If you use normally use FL Studio, Ableton, Garageband, or Logic Pro X try out Splice! That's my referral link because I like free things.

_I stupidly bricked my phone which forced me to upgrade to a newer version of iOS, and since then I haven't been able to jailbreak iOS 8.1.3 for multiple reasons, but here's a couple of screenshots before I had to upgrade:

Wish I was still able to jailbreak I can always ask for a new phone from AT&T though, just costs a fee and I'm not sure if it's worth it since my upgrade is real soon.

Posted on 07-30-15 08:02:26 AM, in a thread in which I post about my UE4 project that I'm not sure if I'll finish (last edited by shagia at 07-30-15 08:03:06 AM) Link
_actually I can't say much about 'finishing' it, but I like the progress I'm making. also didn't know if I shoulda put this in video games or art.....

Some context, earlier this week or last week I think, I had talked to a friend who was talking about his job which was Hotel renovation which gave be a quite ridiculous idea. That idea being just a 'destruction' game, but based in a hotel in renovation. The idea / objective in general was just to screw as much property up as you can to hit whatever specified amount of money (or in this case, score) to end the 'round' and move on to the next map. You have no weapons at spawn, as weapons are literally all around you. You'd have a time limit, which is disguised as your "job shift" since really, you're working as a 'hotel renovator'. You're just destroying things when you're meant to fix things is all.

In the progress of destroying things, I've planned that you'd also have multipliers adding up on your score and I think it'll come from 'killing' other human beings. It won't be a blood fest, but what I'm thinking of mostly is just attacking other people with objects that you've broken or through a chain reaction of events. For example, there'd be a dude on top of a ladder, but you need that ladder to 'fix' something. You just grab the ladder, and the dude on top of it ragdolls off, and you get a two times multiplier.

There's a number of things outside of this, but that's overall the main premise. I originally started this project on Unity, but I tried out UE4 and just didn't move back since I never really did get too far on the Unity version, and then I never did fix the Unity versions' physics. Here's some video:

a very recent (today) video showcasing the prototype in a actual scenerio that wasn't nothing, but still incredibly rough.

a less recent (actually yesterday) video of me showcasing Rigidbody chunks of items which I didn't know was possible until I started snooping around to only find that you can add components to more items in UE4.

something I genuinely felt entitled to uploading

older clip showcasing no-gravity stuff because I thought it was real cool, and I still do which is urging me to add a 'low gravity' mode in the future (also this is when I first added the 'score' sound, it's VERY loud, so volume warning)

and last but definitely not least, the very first thing I've ever uploaded, showcasing a blueprint that grabs rigidbodies with the help of a content example, but altered to be a bit more floaty, and also fixed a bit since it would actually sometimes make me fall through the floor

Feedback would be real cool if anyone has it! I'd also imply that I'm not working with ANYONE else in this but it'd also be real cool, haha. I'll most likely be updating this thread at notable points of progress!
